Hey Becky ,
Thanks for the welcome & I'm sure that I'll be asking many more questions . Sometimes I just want to either confirm an idea that I already have or maybe find out that there is a better approach that I was unaware of . This forum is like my daily newspaper for info & ideas on teardrop camping & road trips . As others have said . it's very addictive !
Again , thanks for the welcome ...........!!!

Hey everyone!

As a definite newbie, I can say that the site was and is a bit daunting. The sheer amount of good info, fun and crazy ideas, and various methods is overwhelming to me.

However, being overwhelmed is seriously no reason to not remember the manners one should have learned as a toddler. I hope to treat this forum as if I was at a convention in real life. Ask questions, enjoy what is available, and don't be rude. Much fun is available for all!

Now back to trying to read the giant thrifty thread. :)

Please don’t misunderstand what we are saying. We don’t mind you asking questions or for our opinions. Just don’t argue with what you receive because it’s not what you were looking for. And it would be nice for a follow up to let us know what you decided and how it went.

Agreed! The most inspiring thing in these forums for me is seeing the builds in action and the continued input and support from everyone here. Love it!

Ken I know what you are saying I am trying to get back into Ham radio after a 16 year absents
things have changed a lot I have ask lots of questions and received lots of answers.
some of the answers don't make sense until I ask another question and that answer turns on the old light bulb.
some times the same thing said a different way will do that for me too.
I know that's not like being ask how to do something then arguing with you
which can be very frustrating and make you not want to answer when someone
else ask a question.

I am definitely a " newbie " & have asked questions & have searched the forum for many hours . I have gotten some very good advice from members on a number of topics & I'm thankful for that info . I really don't have much to offer back just yet as I haven't even started my TD . I thought that I knew exactly what I wanted shortly after I joined the forum, but as time went along I found out that I wanted something totally different, mostly from reading this forum .Sometimes there is so much info to read through, that it's difficult to find an applicable answer, so posting a question ( even though it has been answered before )seems to be the best way to go .I feel as though I already know a lot of you folks although we have never met . I look forward to getting on with my project TD & hopefully meeting up with some of the good folks who make up this forum .

I'll catch you down the road a piece ,

Bob

I SECOND THAT ALSO!!
Hello all,
the name's Steve here, a 54yr old from Owensboro, ky. I'm a motorcycle rider when time allows and love to camp ( this years big trip for us was a 5500 mile round trip to Idaho, Yellowstone and Sturgis then back home)....We are just getting too old to do it in a tent and sleep on the ground any more. When touring, We tow a heavy trailer with cook stoves, grille topper, canopy, a heavy3 1/2 season tent, folding aluminum tables and chairs and all supporting gear.... well, you get the drift....Anyways, that's why i'm looking at a light weight setup to be able to sleep in, with very little camp set-up time involved( something that we can pull off road and sleep overnight when traveling). A couple weeks ago, I broke my right arm cutting a very large tree that a storm took down in neighbors yard and drive so I am laid up and reading to pass the time. So, I've spent many hours on here reading since I have joined up! :? This sure has gotten my mind going and hopefully I will be able to start a build later this winter. Thanks to all who have said hello or offered advice already and look forward to getting to know all of you here either in print of at a meet somewhere in the future.... Till then, safe travels to all of you....

As a "Newbey" I wanted to respond to this.
Yes, I only joined a couple months ago, and yes, I am going to benefit greatly from the work and thoughts of others. I, for one, appreciate this very much. In fact, even though I am going to build my own version of a Benroy and won't be asking to use anyone's specific plans, the information that I have picked up here is going to make my job twice as easy, and probably improve the quality by 100%.
I have read completely through many, many build files, so many in fact that I can't tell you where I got each piece of information. Some of it was directly from what I see in the pictures many have been so kind as to provide, some from the text explaining what they are doing, and some from various conversations between members on the forum, telling how they ,or even someone else, solved a problem. Where-ever it came from, I am very grateful.
Now the bad part. Like everyone else I know, I sometimes get frusterated by a problem. When explaining these problems to others, my frusteration may appear to be rudeness because of the way I express it. If this happens, let this be my advance apology.
Anyway, Thanks to all.....

Darrell
