New TD fan from Michigan

Hey guys, I found this site from a Reddit thread, and after about 10 minutes of browsing around I knew I had to start building my own TD. My girlfriend and I have been shopping for a TT for some time now, but haven't found anything we really loved, so finding this site was awesome, I never even considered trying to build my own until now.

A little about me. My name is Rye, I'm 31 and I've got a bit of a background with building things, I worked construction during summers through high school and college. I went to college at The Art Institute of Colorado for Industrial Design, I'll throw a small plug in for my company here if that's allowed :) (http://www.ryezenstudio.com).

I'm sure I'm going to have a lot of questions, you all seem like a very friendly crew here, so I'm sure I'll learn a ton from you guys! I'm excited to get to know you guys, and hopefully someday I'll be able to join in on a camping trip with my very own Teardrop!

If you want to know anything else about me, feel free to ask away! Here's a pic of my girlfriend and I on one of our adventures in Moab.

Have fun with your build! The biggest problem I had with my build was getting to sleep at night. I would lay there and make plans in my head on what to do next, and then what to do next, and ..... I think you get the picture.

Yeah, I'm going to have to pace myself, I'm already jumping around between plans and trailers, and trying to figure out what accessories I'm going to want/need, But I got the big part outta the way... I got the OK from the boss lady after showing her through the gallery  as long as I finish my current project of insulating and drywalling our garage.

I supposed first step is finding the right trailer base, then a checklist of what we need as far as space and accessories.

I hear that Northern Tool has a sale on their trailers right now. To bad they don't have a store in Michigan.

Yeah I looked at their trailers, they are very nice and I may end up getting one if all else fails, but for now i'm keeping my eye open on Craigslist. I found a "handyman special" pop up trailer for $300, so I may jump on that and just gut it.

They sell a less expensive 5x8 trailer at their stores that they do not sell online. It's the one I used for my build.

Welcome to you and your girl friend and hope you will do a post in the build trend section we love pics.
But you must make a plan like what style you want what goes 1st 2nd 3rd and so on.
It will help to make sure you don't miss anything that is important like insolation and wiring for inside and outside
Well good luck and enjoy this site of information just ask someone will tell you

Thanks, I definitely will post a build thread once I get started, and I got another lead on a 5'x8' utility trailer this past weekend. so hopefully I'll be picking that up next weekend! Now that I know what my base will be I'm leaning towards the Cub style TD.
