Slow planner!

Postby duke12 » Sat Oct 12, 2013 9:31 pm

Hi all! After lurking around here for a while I decided to finally register. I am a college student out in Colorado (6 more months and I'm finally finished!), and will be moving back to my home state of Michigan once I'm finished. I plan on spending my remaining time out here planning out my build as I have zero experience building things! Because of that, I want to have as much planned out as possible. With that being said, I think that's enough for today, I've got a beer to drink and a Tigers game to finish watching!

Duke I joined and for 4 months I did nothing but read and read and read. I can honestly say that till The tearjerkers Gathering Crossroads of America this July did I decide what I wanted. I was almost finished building. I am already planning my second one. so may you plan , draw put it on paper , read and read change your mind and do it again and yes it is ok in the planning stage to change your mind lots of times, Have fun If you can manage to get to a camp out before you start your build that is the best Then if like so many, you can go back and check out the build threads again and by that time you will be sufficiently in the throngs of being teardrop crazy , over the next couple of months you will get to meet people on here and you can ask questions and get into discussions and get to know where some of the people live and get to know them, Put the drawings and ideas on your build thread, But finish school first!!!! Study hard and Graduate. and I am a mom ok maybe not yours but a mom still!!!!! Welcome

Mary C. :)

I will second Mary on this! Plan but before you start building come to a Tearjerkers gathering or two, there is no substitute for seeing and perhaps trying one on for size. Btw where in Michigan?

I do plan on trying to see a few before I make any final decisions. I originally grew up in the GVSU area. Both my girlfriend and I will have healthcare degrees, so we're planning on staying in the Grand Rapids area when it's all said and done. I've noticed quite a few Michigan folks on the boards here, I'll definitely be asking all of them for ideas and suggestions when I'm building!

You are doing it right. I lurked, planned and gathered up my supplies for months before I made my first move at the build. The most important part is to have fun with the build. I often get asked what year and make is. I say "It's a 2012 Raybuilt" :D
