I installed a cargo door on the trailer so I can slide a small 5000 btu air conditioner in and out of the trailer. I was able to find the perfect size cargo door and it works great. Now I'll keep cool on those hot summer nights. 108378108379 When not in use, the air conditioner sits on a shelf above the refrigerator.

Cutting a hole in the side of a home built trailer (or any trailer, for that matter) is brave!

Not actually working on the trailer (did that yesterday; re-mounted the clothes shelf with metal brackets, not plastic like those that broke), but trailer related. I live on the downside of a sandhill, with lotsa oak trees all around. During the nine months that I've had the trailer in my garage, completing the build (after thirteen months 50 miles away), a lot of sand and oak leaf debris had filled in the driveway area just in front of my three bay garage/shed. My cars and trucks had no problem with the spongy sand and leaf litter (mostly mulched), but just trying to push the trailer outside (uphill) the garage by myself was impossible. I was going to turn it around (I had pulled it downhill into the garage, tongue first, in November) to be able to hitch it up and take it to a scale (finally). No go. So I ended up spending 4 hours yesterday, and most of 8 hours today, levelling, shoveling, and moving 20-30 wheelbarrow loads and later, after the barrow broke, almost the same amount (one shovelful at a time). 100 degrees (111 heat index at 2pm). No fun for an old guy, but had to be done. I used to do this every month or so, but I've been obsessed with the trailer. So, maybe next weekend, I can pull it out, and go weigh it ?!? Maybe.

Every time I make a mistake, I cover it with a hand-carved little mustache. So far, my trolley to top has 2 of em, one in front and one in back. Very few ask what these things mean, so I tell 'em and it always gets a laugh........Snicker, snicker.

There was a thread about alternate undercoating to the black goo, and I thought the roll of roof seal would be great because it really is, but apparently NOT when applied to the wood on the underside of a teardrop because while it stuck to my fingers and everything it touched, it did not like sticking to the wood when gravity was involved so I would not recommend this type of undercoating. It was sagging and hanging down everywhere, so I spent the evening putting a hundred staples in it with a staple gun to hold it in place. I would go with the black goo or simple exterior paint moving forward.

Aluminum angle is being liberally used throughout my teardrop around the edges, but it looks kinda cool so I'm running with it! In fact the only way my top headliner piece is held in is by the trim! There was no way else to attach it...

Today was a great day. I jacked up the "A" frame with my wallaby jack and removed the jockey wheel. I painted the mounts for the jockey wheel and any parts I had missed some time ago and made some technical adjustments to the upper shockie mounts. These technical adjustments have now allowed the floor to cover the shockie mounts with out a major restructuring of the floor. The paint will be dry tomorrow and I can now start to lay and fit the floor. Once the floor is fitted, I will then start on the sides which will be made by joining three pieced of 1/2" ply for each side. The first job tomorrow will be to bolt the jockey wheel back onto the frame and then it will be full steam ahead. Great stuff!

Kody

A Wallaby jack is called a high lift jack in the US. These things are extremely dangerous if not used with all precautions. Worked with care, they are a wonderful piece of equipment able to also pull your vehicle out of a ditch if you don't have an electric winch on your truck. These are jacks that you never (NEVER) use by itself to lift your car with and then crawl under it.

Well, I finally got it weighed. 1280lbs; about what I expected, heavier than hoped for...not the actual travelling weight...subtract 12lbs (removable jack) add 100lbs (water jugs)+60lbs (loaded ice chest)+10lbs (side tables to be stored inside); total actual travelling weight will be 1280-12+100+60+10= 1438lbs (looks like a truck tow will be needed, not my HHR or Cobalt. I didn't load it up as I intend to use it, because I wanted to test its' handling under worst-case tongue weight conditions. So the 1438lbs is the corrected weight to the photo shown here:111153 By the way (weigh?), even though there was only 45lbs tongue weight, the trailer was 6" nose-up, and the tires at 50lbs psi, it towed perfectly at all speeds on twisting roads and over bumps...go figure! 4'x8' 1438 lbs111153111154111161111162111163

Well don't put a ribbon on it and wait till christmas, open it now look at the parts list and make sure it is all there. but if you put it together in the house you can camp in it forever!!
