Got the fenders on over the weekend and made it to my 9:20 appointment this morning for the dreaded DMV visit. One hour and $39 later I had a VIN and a plate. Title will come in the mail.

Thanks, it's a great feeling to have it plated and on the road.
I'm mostly pleased with the results although I want to rebuild the hatch to half it's size (the top half).
First trip is likely in two weeks to Blackrock at Joshua Tree. Can not wait. Pictures to follow.
