Once when I drove through a Jack-in-the-box joint, I told the gal at the window that I had her boss in my trailer back there. "Oh, sure you do" she said and I told her to just watch and see as I drove forward for her inspection..........Hmmm, no response, what a waste of effort. However, as I rounded the exit lane, 5 Jack-in-the-box employees rushed out the front door, to take a look at what the gal at the window had seen and told them. Just had to share that bit of whimsey.

The short stature of a teardrop poses no threat in a drive thru as long as you swing a bit wide at the window. I get some curious looks when I hit a McD's or visit the King (Burger king) but I have done it several times with out a worry.

Opinions on taking your trailer through a drive-thru

Even better is to find a nice rest stop or overlook and make lunch in the teardrop, but french fries are one of my guilty pleasures.

Yeah my 26' TT and GMC finds it hard to get a space to park. Looking forward to those times with The Teardrop and the CRV. So many advantages over the big white Box (my TT). That's the nickname

Thanks for all the replies. I wasn't worried about getting stuck going in. I wondered if anyone had any problems or were told to get out of line for some reason. But it sounds like that has not been an issue.

I've done it with both my teardrop and my 18ft car hauler. It depends on the drive thru, I'll only do it if it is open enough so that I can swing wide enough. I've been thru some drive thrus that are too tight for just my truck without a trailer.

I did it with my UT a couple of times last week when commuting back and forth to DMV. The wheels on the trailer are just a little wider so I did not have to worry so much about rounding the curve, but I did "dip in and turn out" with the TV at the cash and pick up windows. In other words, I stayed wide along the side of the building and just arced in to get the drivers door a little closer for the transactions.

Probably didn't need to, but it made me feel better to keep an eye on the mirror.

The little UT we use for the punkin chunk is only 4 wide and is not a concern at all. It goes in the shadow of the TV.

as someone who worked the drive thru, a tear is no big deal, however we had concrete posts that got nailed more than once and an overhead bar that got crunched (they were there to protect the building) the stupid part was we were off of a large parking lot for a grocery store, more than enough room to park and walk in. :?

Haven't had the opportunity to "drive through" at a restaurant yet, but did take "Solitude" on the Merrimac Ferry. Was worried we'd get caught at the end with the extra length (we were at the end of the line for that lane) and have to back up off the ferry, but everything worked out.

I have used the drive-thru many times. I have only had one problem. The McDonald's on the corner of I-35 and Swisher in Corinth, Tx. There is a sharp turn between the speaker box and the window where you pay. The Manager and Assist. Mngr had to unhitch my camper and push it off to the side.

I tried to walk thru the drive thru window one night at McDonalds and was refused service. :(
The indoor potion of the McDonalds was closed, as it was after 11:00 pm. But I really need food. so I proceeded to the Drive Thru window.
After explaining to the attendant in the window that being on foot made me no less in need of food than someone driving their car, and also admitting that I was on foot because I was in no condition to be driving. In the end they did agree to take my money and give me a burger.
Since then I have made every effort to use my vehicle when going thru the drive thru.

Brian, reminds me of the time I was driving a truck ( a real truck and not a pickup so it would not fit at all) walked up to the drive in teller at my bank many years ago. Gal looked at me weird and I just said " I am hauling rotten spuds and you really do not want me inside. " If you have ever smelled and seen a large amount of rotten spuds you would know. A really good pile of them can make a person vomit.
