...but, but, but...it's too nice to put in all that dust that is next to impossible to get out of all the nooks and crannies. 8)

Lets see....... a 10% reduction of an endless supply would beeeee........ still dusty

The tarps keep the sides cool during the heat of the day. Makes a BIG difference.

TRUE that :EXP :?

Returning from BRC, I *have* found that using a leaf blower knocks about 90% of the dust out the rear doors. That last 10% might as well be cement.

I *did* get 100% of it off me at BRC. I ran behind the water truck sans clothes with a bar of soap. Worked great. :dancing:

Love your build! Where did you put the LP tank(s) for the stove?

Thanks Z!

I use very little gas. Only the 2 burner stove needs gas. So, I conserve space and weight by using a 1 pound green bottle under the stove. As for heat, I use a little buddy and 5 gallon bottle which I store under the bed and use on demand. Most months I camp are warm enough for me to leave the heater and tank at home.

Im thinking of adding two windows to the front this season. I would like to have more light inside.

You struck a balance in your build that I really like - minimal utilities - yet very nicely done otherwise. I think I'll go for something similar in terms of galley configuration - ice box (a fridge would be a pain!), small sink/stove, small water/grey-water system with a hand pump, and porta-potty. It's also really helpful to know that your build came out to 3100 lbs. For me, I think that means that if I go 7x12 or 7x14, I'll really need a double axle to support the extra weight of my bikes and track gear. I think this is also encouraging me to go to a 7x14 since I will have that additional gear beyond what's in your build.

Is the position of the window on the galley side dictated by where the stove is? I've been thinking about having the galley at the front of the trailer, but maybe there are some better reasons to put it along the side like you have done.

How has the cargo door for the porta-potty worked out? Do you end up using it?

For the A/C, did you think about buying a high efficiency roof unit? There are some on the market that can be run with a Honda/Yamaha 2000w generator/inverter. It may not matter in a way, since I will need to get a companion generator to be able to power both the A/C and my tire warmers (~1kw) at the same time.

How was your experience ordering from the Trailer Showroom? I can order a Continental Cargo trailer through them or through my local dealer, but I am leaning towards the Wells Cargo Road Force because of higher quality components and a better warranty.

Also, do you have picture of the driver's side of the trailer? You have lots of other great pictures! Is the color Pewter?

If i can put in my 2 cents worth. I also purchased from TheTrailerShowroom and was very happy with how things went. MY trailer came from Lark Industries in South Georgia. Both the trailer showroom folks and the Lark people were completely helpful with all of the extras and custom work i wanted. I would buy from them again without any hesitation. You can see my build at TheTrailerShowroom7X14.

Sorry for the slow reply Z, Ive been out of town.

Here is what I did and what I think

I kept the front light by putting the galley on the side and only a bench up front. As is, it still has a tongue weigh of 350 lbs.

I thought I was being clever with the exterior door for the potty, but I never use it. I just access it from inside. The potty works great. Good for at least 5 days if you take care of it. No smell.

You can get a single axle rated over 5000 lbs. I did. Doubles add more weight but make centering the load easier.

The AC only cost 100 bucks. But I cannot use it and the micro at the same time. I just turn the AC off when cooking.

Trailer Showroom is good. The owner takes a personal interest. the build is good. Don't expect exact precision in the placement of doors, windows etc. Don't expect high ground clearance. IVe dragged the ass end of the trailer through many dips.

The color is pewter. I thought it looked cool. But on sunny days it gets HOT. Makes the inside hot even with insulation. When desert camping, I drape tarps around the side to cool it down. IF I was to do it again, Id order a white trailer. Not as cool, but cooler. You should paint the roof with an elastomer white to help keep things cool. It makes a big difference over shiny aluminum, which gets SCORCH-EN hot in the sun.

LED lights are great cause if you leave then on for 24 hours, your battery does not go dead.

Overall Im happy with my "minimalist" build. Its light, easier to build, functional and shiny. People like it.

Good Luck and Safe Racing

Thank you for your thoughtful reply!

I went ahead and ordered my 7x14 tandem axle from Wells Cargo via a local dealer. I wanted the extra axle to be able to better support the weight of any motorcycles that I might be hauling (between to 1200-1500 lbs). My overall guess for the weight of the trailer fully built out and loaded is somewhere around 4000 lbs putting the tongue weight at 400 lbs (hopefully). Based on the information I found over at tacomaworld.com, this should be very doable with my Tacoma.

We will see how the factory does in terms of placements of windows, D-rings, breaker box, spare tire, etc. My local dealer has requested they send us a drawing with the placements before they begin the build. I debated just ordering all the pieces and then doing it myself, but again - I'd rather focus my time on building out the interior and be able to use the trailer from day one for transport/camping even before I make any changes.

I did end up ordering in the champagne color -- the lightest non-white color I could find. I will definitely look into the roof paint.

This is such a wonderful minimalist build. I'm intrigued by the elastomer paint on the roof. Do you think it will help with any sound dampening for rain/hail as well? We plan to insulate our ceiling but combining with the paint might help with sound and heat?
