I really like the tapered "boat tail" rear end; that's going to look great and will be added to my list of other peoples ideas to copy!

That's looking quite nice! You have set an ambitious goal with the compound curves, but it will be unique and have a very pleasing shape when you are done, so it will be well worth the extra effort.

People will not believe that you built it yourself.

I am looking forward to following along with you on the rest of your build. :applause:

Thanks, I am trying to keep wind drag down by rounding some of the leading edges. plus it will look kinda snazzy. I have taken on quite a few projects I had doubts about. and I surprised myself with those. on the other hand, I have also messed quite a few projects in my time. only time will tell.

the finish floor will be3/8 engineered oak. and the underside will be coated somehow.113989

I managed to get the sub floor laid. and the rear of the chassis finished. I painted the underside of the OSB with some SPAR varnish my Dad bought last year by mistake when I was milling out some trim for my parents kitchen. I also added some 2x2 cross members where the OSB sheets butt up together and painted the 2x2's with some spray asphalt undercoating. the steel angle I used for the front sides is made out of some tough steel. while cutting to weld the front up I dulled 5 new recip saw blades. now that I am trying to drill pilot holes to screw the sub floor down, I have dulled/broken 5 new drill bits..... and my suspension about the torsion axle being toast was laid to rest when I was able to put some weight over the axle. I have bounce

Hi SLUG36,

Your revised design reminded me of an earlier build done by a
fiberglass boat builder about five years ago. It is a bit larger than
your design but very similar. Here's the link:

'Hope that reviewing it can be useful to you in finalizing your design.

Cheers,

Thanks for the link mezmo, that thing is great. I was thinking of doing a Woodie. but, now I have a better idea of how the shape will look.

worked on the front and rear bulkheads. made with 2x2's. also ripped some 2x4's down to 1/2" and glued up on a form to make the strong backs. only way i could think of bending 2x2's. I have the 2nd strong back in the glue jig. please excuse the mess.

What is the purple? Did you stain them, or... ?

i think they dye them to identify them as cut for 9' walls. the 2x4's were $2 a piece. 2x2's cost more. so i decided to rip them down and make my own 2x2's.

I have the 3rd roof bow installed and ran out of wood. payday is around the corner and I spent the rest of the day cleaning my little work shop and out side a little. I also helped my 11 year old make some stuff with some scrap wood. One more roof bow and I will start on the side wall framing.
