What's your Favorite thing about your TD?

Postby Dirtyfootcamper » Wed Nov 13, 2013 2:17 pm

Just throwing this question out to get some more ideas for adding on-to my teardrop.. What is your favorite aspect of your Teardrop, your favorite mod or add-on that you absolutely love and are more than happy with? I've been in the stage of adding on to my trailer and am welcome to other ideas that you guys have. I want to do some work on it this winter, so I'm fully ready for spring and summer camping trips. pictures are welcome!! :pictures: ;)
Thank you.

My favorite thing is the warm comfy bed.

What you probably should ask is what is the thing you would like to change about your TD? In my case, I wish it were 5x10 instead of 5x8. With those extra 2ft I could put a lot more stuff in the Galley, rather than stuffing everything inside the TD.

the storage under the sleeping deck.
Nothing in the cabin but the bed.
Dirty shoes, etc go underneath.
chairs, shade, BBQ, table, in drawers.
Works for us.

Sam, I've been looking into putting some storage drawers or bins underneath the cabin as well. I've seen a few different ways to do it and still am pondering how I will because it sounds like a great feature to have. How did you you attach yours?

Best thing is to look at my shakedown trip post and for step by step, my photobucket build pictures. (links below)

After perusing them, let me know if you have any more questions that need more detail.

I stretched it to fit a queen size mattress. It's 60" wide inside, around 65" wide outside, 60" tall (48" cabin on a foot tall drawer bank), and 10' long.
It looks taller than it is because it sits around 22" from the bottom of the frame to the ground.

Then I made the drawers to fit the table, chairs, stove, etc. leftover was used for the tent/ shade storage drawer.

Was quite a bit of waste from each sheet of plywood, but well worth it to get the size we wanted.

Hmmm, , {trying not to hijack the thread},
I bet it would be possible to build a foot tall box, and essentially put a generic benroy ) or other TD right on top of it.....

That's essentially what I did. one foot tall storage box with a 4' tear cabin on top.

Here's the cargo box before I put the sides on.

Simplicity and ease of setup and use.
I would like to add a moon roof so I can lay in bed and watch the moon and stars.

The under floor storage is a little hard to get at ,but is nice for the stuff you don't need all the time.

Absolute best part of TD's, is the fact that you can be set up to camp anywhere in a matter if minutes.
Clean up and depart as quickly!!
