So, I've been lurking for a couple of weeks, reading build journals and gathering ideas. I'm looking to build a shameless rip-off of this design from the hall of fame:

Image

With some differences..I think I want to build a rear entry standy - which is NOT the name of an internet movie - 5'x10', 6' height. My thinking is 3/4" floor, 3/4" single sheet walls, and a double skinned 1/8" luan roof. I've got a Cox boat trailer that seems like it's going to be just the right platform for this thing...which doesn't have to be beautiful, surely won't be as nice as the one in the pic, but it would be nice not to have the entire campground pointing and laughing as we arrive ;)

I'm building it for myself and my son, and occasionally one of my nephews..so I'm toying about with the idea of a folddown bunk on one side or the other..it seems doable in my head, anyway.

So, anyways. Nice to meet yall, sure I'll be asking a million newbie questions soon. If you've seen one with a fold down bunk I'd love to see it.

I watched an interesting movie last night, Historic Camping and Teardrop Trailers. It had a small segment showing how Camp-Inn's round faced tears have two bunks up front that morph from a couch. You might see if Camp-inn has a video showing how there's work. It may work for your needs.

Hey Charles

You in the right place. Check out AlgoDan ( Dan ) build. He build one shaped just like that. I swear if I did not watch his progress in the build area, I would think he bought a commercially made one and put his name on it.

His is not a standy but you can just scale it up.

GL and keep us posted.

Welcome Charles -

I used a boat trailer that had a V-bottom frame for my rear entry. It provided a low center floor for my standy to keep the overall height to a minimum.
