+1. I remember this build as well. The impression I got, IIRC, was that he was not happy with us suggesting: 1) that he could build much lighter and would be happier, 2) that he needed to change his approach to his hatch construction because he was blowing his plywood ribs apart with screws. Maybe someone was a little hard on him? (I don't recall.)
Some people only want to hear the easy answer, or the one that they expected to hear. Some people are just too dam impatient. Other people tend to bash on what they deem to be weakness or ignorance in others because somehow it makes them feel better about themselves... or they are just plain frustrated all the time and need a vent for their pent up emotions.
Some people will get it wrong the first time, ignore sound advice the second time, and claim credit for their own brilliance when they see the light and heed the advice the next time.
He seemed like an ambitious young man, and I would be happy to welcome him back. Everyone starts somewhere, and everyone (for the most part) has something positive to offer, but we all have our own personality traits that we have to contend with, and our own learning curves, too.
Oh dear, I guess I've wandered OT into some sort of introspective social analysis, so I will just finish by saying, be kind and supportive. Think about what motivates you and your actions.
