The ball seems like a much better solution than the previous one of multiple pieces riveted together. Do you know the original purpose of the ball?

But it was a postwomen and she got only one :o

Today I finished the utility trailer building the rest of the wheel houses.

Cut two pieces of my first stainless sheet, fixed them to the trailer and marked the bow of the wheel house.

Then cut it with a tin shear.

Drilled all the holes and deburred them and broke my first 4mm cobalt drill in the whole project, when I met a rivet, I had set from the other side inside a tube.

All the holes since now I drilled in aluminum and stainless steel with only two cobalt drills.

Image

Last step was to set the rivets with my pneumatic Hazet rivet gun.

From my stainless Moto Guzzi panniers I still have some 1961 Hella Opel Rekord taillights left, which will fit with 75 mm diameter perfect to my half size airstream.

Cut the inner part of the lenses (for 12 Volt bulbs) to fit new LED lighting inside.

Then I mounted the wheels to the trailer and let him out of my garage !

But before that I fetched my bathroom scales.

Empty weight is now 78 kg (172 lbs).
Tongue weight is 8 kg (17.6 lbs).

Maximum allowed weight is 190 kg (419 lbs).
So I'm allowed to load up to 112 kg (247 lbs).

BASECAMP FINISHED :D

It looks good and it looks finished, even though we know you will do more. Will you get your license and inspection now or wait until the cabin is added?

Thanks Sharon - the license I got is still valid, because I did not change the length, width and height.

To be honest, its a little bit heavier, 78 kg instead of 65 kg, but that may be explained by the fact, that the truck scales,
where I had to let weigh it, shows "0.06 tons" and is not able to recognize such small items correctly.

Today I began to bend the bows I need for the cage under my stainless skin.

First the bottom frame, but it was too wide and does not fit perfectly to my trailer, so I had to cut it into two halfs and rivet it together again.

After finishing the bottom frame I bent two U-frames for the cabin and four J-profiles for front and stern.

I try to find someone, who can weld the cage for me instead of riveting the tubes together.
If I cleco the tubes together, Voggenreiter, a metal building company 15 km away, could possibly do that for me.
The owner has a big heart for crazy people for he is crazy himself and runs a Starfighter museum.
