 kyfly,

I really like your trailer and the way you designed it, especially the cabinet doors that make a table.

Smart!; I like the rounded boat style cubby holes; ahs the sterio box made me smile; perfect; door table are good but I see a flaw in the top ...lol

The back double door fold out is well designed; infact the best design yet that I can think of for the back / CT / teardrop spirited idea; is the back portion removable?

Thanks all for the kind words. This trailer has been perfect our needs and we've been really enjoying it.

Youre right Dave, the table top is flawed haha, but its a good spot to set a duffel bag sometimes. The rear wall is hinged on the floor and attaches to the bottom of the cupboards with 4 speed nuts so it can fold flat into the trailer. The cupboards are all one piece and bolted to aluminum angle on the walls so they can come out if necessary.

This winter i plan on adding a screen door, some sort of vent fan, and have been thinking about adding a water tank somehow.

Kyfly,

Somewhere through all these posts is a picture of a 10-14 gallon poly tank that was strapped to the outside of a 5' trailer. A faucet bib was tapped into the tank.

The main thinking point I see is how & where you mount it, other than space, is the possibility of freezing up if that is a concern. On a small CT like that I would think a tank made of 6" pvc mounted between the floor cross members would work great. You could even put a tank in the bed of the pickup and run a hose to the CT. This would simplify things when you need to refill it. Just  out loud.

 GREAT idea! Solves multiple problems, including lessening the weight of the trailer and weight distributuion on a single axle. One could do the same with a propane bottle.

Thanks. Ya got all kinds of hauling possibilities with the pickup, why not use em. For those that boondock, this would be really good. For me, I don't boondock any more so I just fill up when I get there and drain my tank before I leave. In my warped little mind, :DOH2: I invision a 12v RV pump in the bed with the tank. It can be wired into the pickup or the CT, whichever works for you. They're not used enough to drain a battery.

I was thinking i'd build a pvc pipe tank and mount it under the frame. This would be the cheapest way for me and i cant justify spending $200+ on a poly tank that would fit. Im a little bit worried about clearance issues though.

Another idea i had was to buy one of these http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/ ... _200578542 and have it mounted inside, on top of the axle, to be pulled out when i get to camp. I cant figure out if the tank is safe for potable water or not though.

If I did my math correctly, a 6 in dia, 5 feet long pipe would hold about 7.34 gals. Put two together and you have 14.68, or 3 at about 22 gals.
I have thought of maybe using them also, but did not resolve the main issues of "water in" and "water out". I thought connecting and mounting them would not be that difficult though. A 3 in dia pipe's volume drops drastically to 1.8 gals for 5 feet. (again if my math is not right-please correct me.)

I was thinking along the lines of the sprayer tank myself. PVC under the trailer would be
subject to road debris and rocks being chucked up from the tow vehicle as well.
Had a friend once that made a water tank from some steel tubing (pipe), it was a 3 high
about 4" dia. filled on one end and had a petcock at the other for draining/dispensing.
Kinda like these;

hankaye,
Under the carriage might not be the best spot for sure. But your comment about vertical gives me another thought what to do if you have a tight area under the counter. You could make a vertical tank for the inside for a corner that is otherwise not much good for storage using 6 or bigger diameter PVC.

If your concern is road debris, just make sure it doesn't hang below the frame. Then cover it with diamond plate or even a piece of plywood, anything that you can attach to the frame that will deflect the debris. Even small opening expanded metal would work.

I was going to consider mounting a water tank like this under the floor with some sort of protective shield around it. Putting this slightly in front of the axle might help manage the tongue weight but it certainly would free up space under the cabinets. I was thinking of cutting away a section of the plywood floor and adding a pre-built metal frame such I have seen in thus forum for batteries. Anyway, that is a decision to be made once the CT is here.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/21-Gallon-RV-Co ... 0745513974

Mounted in something similar to what 8ball_99 did in this link:

http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=5 ... ox#p963830

In fact I will analyse putting a spare or maybe the batteries in this same way....it all depends on the impact to structural strength and weight distribution.

Black and grey water tanks and there pipeing seem to be ok on the underside of the rvs ,I think you would be fine mounting plastic pipe underneath for water storage.
