I tow with a VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI rated at 1000 lbs. towing. I have at least 15,000 miles towing a Pleasant Valley 5x8 (they make the Little Guy and are basically identical) which weighs 960 lbs. dry. Camping means about 1200 to 1300 lbs of stuff. Most of the stuff gets carried in the tow vehicle keeping the trailer at approximately 1000 lbs+.

7,000 of these miles was a trip out to IRG (International Redwoods Gathering) in California. I average 30 miles to the gallon for the trip. Getting bored in Nebraska I tried one tank of gas pulling at 75+ miles an hour and averaged 15-16 mpg. Dropped down to 58-60 mph and used mainly 5th gear (6th is an overdrive) to get the average of 30 mpg. There are guys on here an tnttt that tow with your vehicle. Do a search and see what they said.

sgtbowe,

Welcome to the forum & the world of teardrops! You will find lots of help & good information here on the forum.

We have family in & around your area. My husband is from Gonvick (his family homesteaded in that area), I have family that lives there, too, although we are not from there originally. We also have extended family in Bemidji & my mother-in-law has lived there for the past 20+ years. Have to say, I'm not missing the winters there!

We have a nice group of people in Minnesota & they are fun to camp with! Hope you are able to join in the fun soon!
