I just learned about this forum from somebody in Massachusetts although I'm in California. I've had my Little Guy for about 3 years now and by actual count (I keep a spreadsheet) I've towed it 14,890 miles with my MX-5 Miata. Take a look at my signature and you'll see why.

I had been looking at the idea of a teardrop for quite awhile but when I started F & C I got serious. The thought of my own build never entered my mind. Craftsman I am not. I found this one on craigslist. It's a basic Little Guy Joey with a dealer add-on cupboard kit. The only problem I've had is with the cupboard kit. It was barely tacked in and the screws came/pulled loos. I re-screwed with bigger screws and glue for back-up.

I don't see a wave icon so :wave:.

Thanks Mary. I was beginning to feel a little lonesome. I thought maybe it's because mine is manufactured, not home-built. Obviously, it's not fancy but it is extremely light weight. Just right for towing behind a Miata.

As a former backpacker, I'm used to sleeping in a small space and cooking on a one-burner stove.

Have you had a chance to take in a "Gathering" and meet some of the Great folks that share your enthusiasm for travelling and camping in a teardrop?
We have just completed our first year of camping in our new teardrop "Miss Piggy"....towed it over 12,000 miles and slept in it 44 times.
We love the new lifestyle!
Hope to meet you down the road somewhere in 2014.

Finding out about gatherings is exactly why I joined this forum. Not having a build to worry about, and very little maintenance, those topics are not my priority. I must day though I'm very impressed with the things I have looked at.

I'm very interested in the International Redwoods Gathering as I graduated from high school in Humboldt County not far from Carlotta. I always like any excuse to go back there.

Unlike most I've seen here, my wife does not do the teardrop thing. Her idea of roughing it is Holiday Inn Express instead of a Westin. That - and other reasons - is why I have the Joey; room for just one.

As for other gatherings, my flagging at races comes first. That's why I won't be at the Dam Gathering. I'll be at Laguna Seca working the United SportsCar Championship race. http://www.imsa.com/ Sports Car racing has always been my passion; the teardrop was just a means to facilitate that. But, now that I know of the gatherings, I can branch out.

We are Street Rodders and have been attending Rod Runs for over 40 years! The new Tear Drop plays into that too!

Hope it is as good as the Dam Gathering that we attended for the first time last year.

Yeah... It seems like street rodders and teardrops go hand in hand. As a mater of fact, most of the teardrops I come in contact with are being pulled by rods or for this whatever trip, the rod is back in the garage. Like I said, I'm pretty much the odd man out. Except for JonW.

I see you are in Eureka. I graduated from South fork, lived in Weott.

Welcome, I love your setup. I would be pulling with my SLK but no hitch is currently available. May have to upgrade to a Vette so I can get a TV (tow vehicle). Currently tow with my Jetta Sportswagen and love that set up as well. My wife won't teardrop either so we have a 32 foot TT with two slide outs when we camp together. I take the LG when going off by myself as she has to work a few weekends a month. Looking to retire soon so I hope to be taking some extended trips in my LG 5 wide.

Hey Smokeybear12,

Also a newbie here and you aren't the only one here who has a factory built unit and is mostly focused on gleaning information on gatherings, campgrounds and destinations. I also have a passion for motorsport and attend races whenever possible. We already have tickets for the Indy car race next May on the road course and reservations at the Indianapolis KOA for Columbia during race weekend. We'll be out in California next July on our way to the LG Western Rally at Ponderosa State Park in McCall, Idaho. I've got some racing videos on our linked Travel Channel below
