If you pay attention to the LOL "Land of Lincoln" chapter they are always talking about "This is a nice park and we should try that" kind of a thing. People who have camped all over and seen great parks and tell others get us motivated. I have always felt we need more than two Wisconsin events. My personal favorite Wisconsin park is Devils Lake. Great hiking and non motorized boating area.
We personally make most of LOL's events and at least one of the Minnesota events that Tim so graciously organizes.
This is a really big (distance wise) Tearjerker chapter. It is 771 miles from Kenosha Wisconsin to Saint Vincent Minnesota and we seem to have developed two different camping groups within the one chapter because of the distances. Several years ago we had an event upon our Tearjerker's chapter namesake river, the St. Croix. Several nice parks there and many right on the river. We had 8 to 10 canoes and kayaks show up in addition to those Tearjerkers that just wanted to camp. Might be nice to try and have an event that unites our groups. Great group of people over there and a lot of them have an interest in boats of some sort. Most of our Minnesota Tearjerkers are located in Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The area around Tomah, La Crosse, Winona seems to be central to both groups. Must be some water in the area that would attract a bunch of people with canoes and kayaks and can provide us with good camping.
LOL has the following events scheduled for this year. June 12-15TH Galena Illinois - AUGUST 7-9th Kickapoo State Park near Danville Illinois - September 5-7th Tears By the River, Thomson Illinois - October 9-12th Sauk Trail State Park near Kewanee Illinois The only other scheduled event in our area is Camp Inn Camp Out the last weekend in September. July is wide open.
Open to ideas. Anyone?
