Earlier this year I was at an antique store some distance away and I saw a slant 228. It was a little more than I wanted to pay, so I walked. As the weeks rolled by I couldn't stop thinking about it. So I made a long trip back. Not only was it still there but I got the clerk to make a phone call so I could make an offer. Offer was accepted. So I brought it home and there it sat. Waiting for a tear down and cleanup. I replaced the vent, but other than that it was in good shape. Fast forward about six months, I am out working on a three burner project and this thing is about three feet away saying try me, try me. Sooo I blow the thing off and out with compressed air and wiped it down. Then I filled up the tank and gave it the rocket test burn. Yes we have a go. Tie on some new mantles and here we go. It's 85 years old and has the original mica globe and it's been running for three hours now. Go figure.
