Hi all,
First, thanks to organizer and all of you for sharing. I'm in early stages of planning and designing a Spring build start and already having a blast learning and looking through all the posts and pictures. Hoping to connect virtually and maybe even physically with some Central VA builders (if around) to learn and narrow down a good design and starting point to plan my build. Ultimately looking for TearDrop 5x10 or something that my boy and I can go for weekend, or wife and I to get away. Ideally would have enough for all 3, but want to keep the basic teardrop classic shape. Saw one that included a bunk area with observation windows (for a kid under 10) but I'm probably more of a novice (with metal work) and a 3 or 4 of 10 with woodworking and equipment; but am fairly handy and can get quality help from friends. Have even talked about a 'teardrop' club locally where we help each other over the next year and turn build(s) into a 'social club' of sort. Anyway - I'm excited, have bought two sets of plans from eBay, downloaded a few freebies, and am now focused on starting a book of WishList and design elements that will K.I.S.S. For 1st build, and still result in a fun portable upgrade from tent camping. I have a few years to fine time and am OK with a slow build. Any ideas or links on best way to organize needs, plans, etc- appreciated. I guess the core decisions I need to figure out is size so I can buy or build trailer. I'm leaning towards either buying base trailer or hiring a buddy to build one - just making sure I get that right to start. Ok, enough about me- thanks again! Looking forward to a long fun journey with you all and many hours in my two car garage... Now back outside to clean out the junk so I can get ready for a TD build.
