We got a bit of snow last night.. a foot or so here. Some people have not gotten their power back yet.. and the power companies are reporting an increase in outages again.

No snow or ice here yet, just cold.

We have gotten 16-18" of snow, since the ice storm.. going to 20-30 below in the next day or so.. followed by a bigger storm on it's way...

The mountains out west here are turning into deserts this winter.

We are not that cold here which is lucky as with no snow cover the under ground water pipes might freeze. Many of them where installed with the idea that there will be snow to add insulation.

But right where I live you can keep the snow. Just put it in the mountains.

We had a hell of a freak snowstorm October 4th. It started snowing about 1:30 in the morning on Friday and continued for about 40 hours straight. I ended up with 41" in my driveway. I lost power Friday morning and we didn't get restored until Wednesday afternoon. Lows were in the low 20's. I used my gas fireplace to keep the house warm. My road did not get plowed out until Tuesday afternoon. It was no fun but easy enough to stay comfortable. It's amazing how much food you can find in the cupboards when you're really hungry. The ranchers in west river South Dakota suffered terrible cattle loses. They have estimated more than 100,000 cattle died. Here are a few pictures from my house.

Booger.... We was over here in Idaho nice and happy that missed us. That area sure looked white from the satellite photos.

I was thinking, "Gawd, that is one hell of a snow load on there!" I find it very reassuring to see it holding up, as my camper will likely be kept outdoors, too.

I live under the blue oval area, my inner child is so happy!
the reality is, I have to get 12 air planes launched thursday morning in no matter what the weather, lots of shoveling, and snow brooming, starting at 0500, I can't wait! It has been three years since the last storm on a workday! way too long!

Hmm I am just up the coast [and inland 40 miles] from that oval. They say we might get 2 feet of snow… so I wonder what the heavy oval will get]? :o I have just spent the last 2 full days.. cleaning up from these last snows [and Ice] At least I will have a day off in-between.. 8)

Hmm. I, too, live under the blue oval (albeit along the coast) and my current local forecast is for up to an inch overnight and an inch on Thursday.

Okay, that was the cable Weatherscan channel. When I check the local TV news website I get 4-8 inches along the coast Thursday, perhaps lingering into Friday.

Neighbor's son across the street just test fired her snow blower.

You people over there must be suffering, if we have (literally) ONE INCH of snow over here the country stops!!!!, the last time we had a decent snowfall in 1990(?)all the motorways round here were shut!!! and we only had about a foot of snow then. Anyway try and keep warm and enjoy the new year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL ON THIS FORUM      .
