Got the pig weighed today...

Teardop, 1750 lb.

Tow vehicle 5000 lb. Tow vehicle is rated to tow 5000 lb.

So, my trailer was rated for 1800 lb. I checked the axel, it is stamped 2000 lb. The tires are rated 1000 lb each, or 2000 lb total.

A little heavier than I wanted, but I think I am good to go.

The only sad part is that my teardrop should not be towed with a car. Truck or SUV only.

Also got the galley props and light done. Just needs paint now.

Some galley progress. Installed a combo cutting board, cook top, drawer. Seems to work just like I dreamed it. Just needs some paint and touch up.

Looks multi-functional. I hadn't thought of a cutting board yet (how dumb is that... basic need).

 :applause:  :applause:

Teardrop spotted in the wild! Had it out on road for a real test drive. I feel it in acceleration and deceleration, maybe a little on the grades, but it tows great.

what a great rig! I am jealous. The Cooler looks awesome behind your FJ Cruiser. You must be feeling really good about your work!

Thanks! I am really happy about it being DONE! Looking forward to some long weekend camp trips this summer. The weather in the southwest is good for it already. I can't wait to go!

I had always planned on turning my teardrop into an offroad one someday, but it looks like someday is coming faster than I thought.

A friend of mine from the offroad club is upgrading his wheels and tires, so he is selling me three FJ rims with tires identical to mine! Another friend is building a teardrop too and he will get the other two tires.

One of them is going to replace my stock size FJ spare. The other two are for the teardrop.

The only problem is... The tires are so big, I think they are going to conflict with my doors! I think I am going to have to move the axel back about a foot. I am also going to need some new fenders.

But when it's done, it is going to look great!

Anybody ever see a teardrop with 285/70r17s tires?

that is going to look awesome - I think you should consider going with the flat top aluminum fenders, they look cool for off road and are functional. Not sure if they come bit enough for those wheels and tires. BTW where did you find an FJ in that color (and what is it called)? I have not seen any around here in CA with that particular color.
