And then I'll have to drive in this Monday morning. :(

yeah we are supposed to get a mix.. which normally would not be wonderful news.. but It will be nice to get some temps that warm.. to may get the ice off the trees.. and the roads cleared.

I can handle the snow, it's the cold temps and wind chills that worry me. Hopefully I won't have to leave until Thursday morning.

While our lows here are predicted to be 6 also. I will not scoff at you. I know you folks there are not use to it or buildings prepared for it. Keep your toes warm.

Here in North Georgia (1,100 foot elevation) we have a forecast of 3 degrees for Monday. I've lived here for 23 years now and I remember the coldest it's ever been back in 91 or 92 and that was 2 degrees. We'll be close to the record. This will only be the second time we've seen single digits here. Some of the last really cold days have been sunny and the nights have had that crisp invigorating feel that display what seems like millions of stars in the night sky .... something we don't get with our normal humidity. As long as we have power, doesn't bother me a bit. This cold snap did prompt us however to book a week down in the Keys next month with our T@B 8)

I knew it had to be bad in the upper mid west when there was a story about how school was canceled on monday, and it was still saturday.
I wouldn't mind moving west, they get snow, last winter I was wondering how far south I would have to move to live where it snowed...
took the wife snowshoeing for her first time yesterday, 20 degrees felt nice after last week.

Time for you all to snuggle up and stay home. Be careful. Coldest I have been in was about -40 for a few days when I was 12. We lived in a trailer house and it was not as well built as todays. This was in 1962, and we had a herd of sheep that was lambing. Dad and oldest sis had left on the train to Denver ( it froze up and stopped on the tracks ). Back home we closed off the back room of the trailer. the oil furnace still could not keep up, turned on the propane oven and heated water to poor over the fuel line to the furnace or the oil would jell. I was taking care of the sheep at night and every time a ewe would drop a lamb I would build a little straw hut out of bales. Toss the lamb in there and the ewe would follow in there and I would close the opening with more bales. There was a few days the highs did not reach 0. Luckily there was no wind to speak of and the snow was not to deep. But it sure was cold.

We survived, been there, have the t shirt and I don't want to do it again. :? Randy

Woke up this morning dreaming of trailers and camping. Then checked the weather. Minus 37 with a wind chill of 51 below. At these temps Celcius and Faranfeit are almost the same. We are heading into the 4th week of this weather  On the plus side only a couple of month left. At least we are somewhat prepared for it, for those of you down south and by that I mean anyone south of say N Dak or Minn take care and bundle up when you go out.

I remember 1996 well (the year my son was born). Down here in Kansas we had high temps around ten below for over a week. I was not involved with Scouting yet and hadn't learned how to handle the extreme cold yet. Got about 3 inches of blowing powder over night and the overnight low is supposed to be around 10 below. Don't need a repeat of 1996. You guys up north stay safe and warm.

We are still getting heavy snow... Shoveled and snowblowed twice already today, and it just keeps on coming down.
