My build was
  • 108163 completed in June 2013, after 21 months
  • 111154 then again in July, August, and September, after both major and minor revisions.
  • 113084113087 actually camped in it in late September
Everything worked as planned (except for improving the galley top seal, revised Oct.2013). Changed to a larger tongue box, and eliminated (bulk, full-time) gasoline storage in the galley, in favor of added cooler space, as logical mods after using the trailer, so...
  • 114353 trailer again finished Nov.2013
See a pattern here? A continual work in progress. More mods planned. Maybe trailer build #2 will be perfect, from the git-go. I hope not; I think I like the "working on it" phase as much as I like using the trailer. UPDATE: 6/27/14 the mods so far in 2014: new 3500lb Dexter axle w/brakes, upgraded wiring from 4 to 7-way, heavy duty frame reinforcement, springs-shackles-hangers, active-bumpstop suspension aid, two more sidetables, extended-run fuel supply for generator(w/upgraded mount) tank on slider, lines, valves, and a 2nd fire extinguisher, new LED "fire strip" rear brake/turn lighting enhancement, and several other minor changes inside and out...never to be "finished", I guess.

Thanks to a lot of help from this group I finished mine for its inauqural trip in May 2013. We took numerous trips throughout Colorado. We managed about 2000 miles and spent over 30 days in the woods taking trips of 3-5 days. We spent the majority of the trips boondocking or in state and national forest type campgrounds. We ranged from the end of May to the end of October (before the nights got a little frigid), and are looking forward to a longer season this year. I am pretty happy with the Teardrop, a couple upgrades are planned this spring. I will add in a second passenger side door, a tounge box of some sort, maybe a 2" memory foam topper-otherwise I think its great as is.

Here it is completed in the garage a couple days before the inaugaral trip.

There was one tragic accident, but luckily a dent was the worst result.

And here are a few from the various places we camped.

IRG July 2-6.....Applegate OR. July 10-13......Canadian Gathering in B.C.July 17 -20 or July 24-27.....Then, on to Banff NP, then down to Glacier NP, heading south to Yellowstone NP and then Walk in the Winds Aug. 14-17?? before heading south thru the Canyons of Utah on you way home to Colorado?????
Lots of GREAT camping spots along the way!!

I agree wholeheartedly on the first sentiment. It is the "whole enchilada".

... but disagree equally on the second.

Dave's masterpiece is a modern rendition of a classic TD. Your masterpiece is more of a traditional rendition and you nailed it! :applause:

The irony is that you are admiring his (as we all do), while (IMO) he was inspired by the likes of yours! Full circle. ;)
