Good Karma of the day.

The crossmembers on my trailer are 2" square tube, with the ends open. There's no way to make that look good. I kept meaning to pick up those plastic, hammer-in end caps every time I went to the steel supply, but I kept forgetting.

I happened to be near the steel supply today, and I stopped in. I grabbed 4 caps out of the bin and put them on the counter. I told the guy I kept forgetting to buy them. He told me to just take them. Maybe he didn't want to bother with the paperwork on a sale that small, or whatever.

On the way out, I put a bunch of quarters in the charity gumball machines.

Karma begets Karma, I say.

I suggest that you use some goop to glue those in. From my experience they sometimes do not hold tight and will come loose easier than you might think they should.

Welded closure plates, if an option, would be what I would recommend. Might have to drill small vent holes to keep the weld from blowing out (due to heat of expansion), but once cool the vent holes are easy enough to weld shut.

Thanks, KC. Even if I did pay for them, they are under a buck, so if I lose one, it's not the end of the world.

If I do lose them, the next set will get gooped in :)

Similar story last year 3 days before Christmas. Went to the supermarket and bought 10lbs of Scrod (fish) It came in 2, 5 lb bags placed in another plastic bag.

Both bags had a scanner thing on them. When the cashier pushed them over the scanner only one registered. When I returned home I realized this. I went back to the store and asked for the manager showed him my receipt and explained the situation and that I wanted to pay for the second 5lb bag.

Instead of "Thank you for being honest" I was told that this was a Firing offense for the cashier and for me to point him/her out!

Well it was an honest mistake, I did not know the cashier personally and I was certainly not going to get someone fired from there job 3 days before Christmas.

The manager became insistent and was almost yelling at me to point him/her out. In short, he was being a real A$$

I thought for a moment, grabbed my receipt from his hand and told him I must be mistaken.

Walked out past a Salvation Army Bell Ringer and put $25 in his bucket.

My conscious is clear.

Happy Trails
