Trip to Death Valley

Postby Marie » Sun Jan 12, 2014 1:16 pm

Happy New Year to everyone.
We were able to take our Cozy Cruiser out to Death Valley for a long weekend during the holidays & had a great time.
We stayed at Mesquite Springs Campground site #28 which is in the northern part of the park by Scotty's Castle.
The weather was great with the nights in the 40's & days into the 70's and only one evening with high winds which we spent in the tear quite cozy playing cards.
Death Valley is a big park & so we did a lot a driving & had to fill up with gas at just about $5 per gallon, ouch, well not fill up but enough to get us back to the 395.
We did some fun hikes at the Racetrack, Mesquite Dunes & Dante's View. Lots to see & do here so will be back.
First time posting photos so hope it turns out right.

This is the perfect time of the year to see Death Valley....you do not want to be there in the summer. Looks like a wonderful trip!

You are so right about this being the perfect time of year to visit.
We'll be going to Anza Borrego State Park in March another place to visit in the winter and not the summer.

One of the great things about Anza Borrego is you can camp anywhere you please in the whole park along the 500 or so miles of roadways and wide spots, and yes winter is best, they built the main visitors center under ground because it gets so hot in the warmer months.
