I will probably never need them, but these were taking up space from a previous trailer build, so I made some mounting plates and bolted them to the front of the TD.Image[/[URL=http://s964.photobucket.com/user/totalbackflow/media/securedownload2_zps591ab496.jpg.html]ImageURL]

We have two on the front of our teardrop, and two on the rear of our Uhaul camper. Bought ours from etrailer. They work good, fold up out of the way, and can be extended with a round rod which I didn't notice in your link if it came with them. The rod is available from etrailer. These type stabilizers are common on popup campers. You just need to be sure you have a place to mount them, and ground clearance to fold them. Are you anywhere near Brunswick GA, as we are wintering near there.

Mary and Bob, I live right off Interstate 20 at the Georgia/ Alabama line. I think you are pretty smart to leave NY with the current weather forecast. The ones I saw are not the etrailer ones They are 4 for $47.00 I just wondered if anyone out there had bought these stabilizers.

There is a slight possibility that I might get down your way in February, just not sure what my plans are right now.

4 for $47 is a better deal than one for $18 at etrailer. Probably equal in quality, but hard to say. The ebay ad does state that there is no brand name on them. Personally I'm more comfortable buying from etrailer, but the price difference is considerable. So far in the month we have been here in GA there has been only one teardrop here in the campground, a couple vintage campers, and several fiberglass campers. Otherwise it's all huge motorhomes and 5th wheel campers.

My first teardrop was a commercial built Hunter. I ordered it with rear jacks. I used them perhaps the first three outings and found them a bit tedious. I finally cut two 2x6's at apposing 45º angles –like a two-sided flattop pyramid. The longer one dowels to the shorter one and together, they are 3" tall. I've got a two-way trailer bubble on the hitch. I can usually eyeball a nearly flat spot in a boondock campsite, check the bubble and decide whether I need one or two of the 2x6's. I find pulling the trailer onto the blocks is much faster than the jacks.

On my 5x10 build this summer, I didn't hold back on what I wanted in it and I left off the jacks. We've all got our own systems. If I was building a standy, I might include a couple of rear jacks.

We had the scissors type on our RV and didn’t like those .... ended up with some HF AL jack stands ... they are light , and work perfect on the FoamStream ... (they were Not inexpensive)
There’s no place like Foam !

We are a bit tongue heavy and there is no need. We have been on many camp sites that were very uneven and I carry set of Linx levelers (light weight plastic) and use them under the low wheel and with the tongue jack (heavier duty) the trailer is stable.

I use the Lynx levelers too and love them. Since the Boxcar is bigger than the teardrop was, any little bit of out-of-levelness makes a big difference at the bed. I use to grab a rock or log but the levelers are quicker. Cut one in half and you can make shorter stack:

For those that use the Bal jacks with a HF frame, what size did you buy? They offer several sizes, but since I don't have my HF frame on the wheels yet (I want to install the jacks while it is still upside down on the floor), I'm not sure which one I need.

I used the 17" (maybe 20"??) size on my HF trailer. Think they're rated at around 450/500# each (I have a new pair still in box with no weight rating so I may be dis-remembering :NC ). Mine are mounted on the cross members at each end, perpendicular to the side rails. If I'm on a particularly 'unlevel' site I just use 6" square wood blocks to support the feet on the low side. They work great but have a tiny amount of 'wiggle' longitudinally. Were I doing it again, I'd devise mounting pads so they'd be diagonal at each corner...

I used the long ones on the back and the short ones on the front. The long ones are better if you're on a steep slope but you can always through a log or rock under them if they're too short. I mounted mine on the diagonal and they're pretty stout.

After looking at the frame some more, I realized I'd have to put the front jacks on the under side of the tongue. I'm already concerned with scraping the tongue due to the slopes and angles of my driveway so I went with 20" for the rear, and I'll strap a 2x3" to the tongue to test it for ground contact before ordering the front jacks.

How big is your trailer? The jacks are very important on the four corners of the Boxcar but it's pretty big at 6.5'X11'. I only put jacks on the rear of the teardrop and I stopped using them after awhile. The trailer axle was far enough back that it was stable without jacks.
