Hello From Portland, Oregon

Postby TenderGravity » Tue Jan 14, 2014 11:12 pm

Hello Everyone,
I want to say Thanks to Mike for approving me, what an amazing site and special group of people, I feel it. I live on the East side of Portland, and been interested in teardrops for many years. I stumbled onto this site, and right away I knew it was time to look into this more seriously. I'm 57 yrs. old, and do a variety of carpentry work for a living. I am impressed with the wealth of information and knowledge here.
Thanks for having me, I am going to have fun surfing around picking a design.
For Now,
mike h.

WELCOME Mike,

Come to a gathering or two this summer, you don't have to have a teardrop, a tent will work. Read the TOW http://www.teardroptrailers.org/newsletters/TOWLine44.pdf

As you know, this place is full of great information. People here tend to have good hearts and will usually share knowledge. BUT you have to see how GREAT they are when you are at a gathering.

Have fun, ask away and go see some teardrops. If you are going to make one, wonderful. BUT, If you are going to buy one, be looking at craigslist, then go dealing.

I'm down just East of Salem.
Take care John :)

Welcome Mike
Yes, check out T.O.W. as the latest edition of their newsletter just came out last week.
You are in a "hub" Teardrop enthusiasts in and around the Portland area.
Maybe drive down to Stevenson in May to visit and see some Teardrops first hand.

Hi Mike! I'm a relative noob from the PNW too. I live in Longview, WA (just north of you) and in 2013 acquired a manufactured TD trailer built by Three Feathers Mfg in La Grande, OR. In the last half of the year I had the pleasure of meeting this new teardropping family and went to my first gathering in September, the Fall Brigade in Mulino, OR. That weekend was an adventure. Powerful winds, driving rain, downed tree branches everywhere. What made that weekend fun? The AWESOME folks I met at the event, and I think I gained a couple pounds at the potluck. I will attend as many events as I can in 2014. Right now my little Pinecone is enjoying a season of rest and some electrical enhancements. Seems we always have new ideas in the hopper.

Hope you enjoy this forum and the great ideas and people. Maybe we'll meet up at an event. Last year BEFORE I had a trailer, I asked if I could attend a TOW event just to get some ideas. Of course the response was a resounding YES. So, even if you want to just come and meet folks and get some ideas (assuming you're pre-build), then you should just show up!
