Dutch Oven People will understand how I feel...
On April 5th, I was contacted by a member on a dutch oven forum, that noticed I was looking for a 5" Lodge Camp Oven.
He emailed me and told me he'd sell me one, he had two of them.
I wrote him right back and informed him I would send out a check first thing the next morning.
Gave him all my info, even my phone number.
Three weeks later...
I emailed him yesterday to ask if he'd recieved my check yet and to please let me know what was up... He's in Idaho, I'm in Northern California.
I just got a response from him.
He told me he never recieved the check and felt timid about contacting me to see if I still wanted it.
He sold it in ten minutes on ebay, this last Teusday to a lady in Colorado.
I just called my bank to do a stop payment on that check...
My bank is charging me $28.00 to do a stop payment.
The last and only time I've ever had to do a stop payment, the charge was $7.50.
Missing out on that elisive 5"er was devistating... being dinged $28.00 for the stop payment just added insult to injury.

Dean,

Just another example of exploitation by the robber barons as they take advantage of the working class.

Steve,
Thanks...
I knew it was too good to be true.
I've asked a lot of people how long it took for them to find their 5"er...
Someday I'll find one... Just hope I can still see and eat solid foods.

Have a good day.

Gage,

I think Dean is looking for a 5" Lodge camp dutch oven. Other brands are quite easy to find, the Lodge isn't so easy.

Gage the one's they have are most likey, Camp Chef brand camp style ovens. (The one's with three legs)
I have three of those and I've requested a quote from Camp Chef for the next IRG... They do private label runs on their 5" ovens. (next IRG-will most likey be called the International Redwood Gathering, since there can only be one inaugural event, maybe in '08???, don't want to conflict with the '07 ITG and who knows... I just might have my build done by then)
I'm looking for a Lodge 5"er, they quit making them a couple years back.
If you ever get by there and notice that they have a 5" Lodge Camp Oven, pick that sucker up for me!!!

They don't make them anymore.
Which makes them rare now.
A Lodge collection is incomplete without one.
And they are just too damned cute!!!

Ask Joanne how she felt when she finally found hers...
I had those feelings for a week or so recently, but they just turned out to be false hopes.
Remember when you were a kid, just waiting for Christmas and you just couldn't stand it???
(It's kinda like that...)
