Canuck Newbie checking in

Postby SkookumAJ » Sun Jan 19, 2014 10:24 pm

Hello everyone,
My name is Aaron, but my friends call me AJ. I'm finally checking in from Victoria, BC Canada. I've been a-lurkin' here for several months while figuring out how to build my first teardrop.
I had never even seen a teardrop until my wife showed me a picture of a nice one and half-jokingly asked me to build one for her.. At first I thought "yea right.." But.. then I am an artist and woodworker by trade.. and I got thinking on it, and I guess that's when I got bit by the bug.
So I came across this awesome website right here; I really like the community here and its easygoing, friendly camping lifestyle. All of the topics and posts of members working out aspects of building tears is unbelievably helpful.
I've spent a couple months working out the build; I reckon that my planning is two months ahead of execution, so by the time I'm building, it's been worked out to the letter... I picked up a boat trailer this last September and started building in October. Between work and a family, it's pretty slow going.. but that's ok, we'll be good to go this springtime!
And what do I think I'm building you ask? Basically a 12 ft. Modernistic alum skinned, stretched a bit for an additional berth for my 3 yr old daughter. With a trolleytop for good measure.. Now I'm at the point of the cabin is built, the interior is installed, I'm running wire for lights, etc. and I guess its time to get the galley lid going...
Still working out photos here, but they'll come soon..
In conclusion, I am stoked to be here; it's been a long time since I've had a project to be really excited about, and it'll be something my family can use and enjoy.
If it wasn't for this website, I probably wouldn't be obsessed and immersed in the teardrop world! So thank you.

AJ

Welcome to the Forum Aaron
Yes, besides a fleet on the Island, there is a large fleet of us forming in B.C.
We officially formed a Chapter of the Tear Jerkers here in B.C. just over a year ago.
Currently we have recruited 19 members.
We would love to have you aboard.
If you are interested? Please PM me and I will respond with more information.

Looking good there neighbour. I think you make it five of us from Victoria now. We're going to have to have our own gathering soon at this rate.
Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach a person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks.

Thanks for the Vote of Confidence Greg!
He has a great looking project there? If I was as close as you I would be over there for a Garage Tour!
Looks like at his current rate of progress, AJ could be ready for a trip to the Farm in July???
