add up the labor on all that woodwork, if a custom built tear is 11-12 grand, 50-60 isn't really crazy

And their doing all the work ! I realize that and understand the math !

I guess the problem is I can't get a $35,000 offer on a home I put $22,000 in remodeling AFTER I bought it, and that's with me doing all the work.

I guess it's just that if I can do it, and don't have that kind of disposable income, I just have to do it the hard way.

yeah this "economic recovery" did wonders for my house sale price also... I really think people who would buy those tiny homes are the same kind who drive prius. they do it for the "status" not really because they need to save money. for the money they want for that tiny house I paid just a bit more for my three bedroom, a barn and 1/4 acre...
makes as much sense to me as people who drive "smart" cars, a tiny speed bump car with no real trunk or back seat, and they get the same mileage as my Focus, with a back seat that seats three and a large trunk... and they pay more up front.

Well it's time to get the caboose on the road......................

Got an offer on the banks house. I gave it my stamp of approval, the rest is between the bank and the purchaser.

I hope it goes through. From what I understand this will relieve me of any further responsibility to the debt and will not affect my credit score quite so negatively.

Just gotta figure out which home to try and live in illegally

Looks like in 30 days I may have a new address.

Tried to use this weekend to move some of the larger but unnecessaty pieces of furniture out of the bank's house and get them over to the storage building.

Snow !

I hate snow !

My weekend was over before it started. Almost 3 feet in the drive and a hugh drift at the door. I made a pass thru the drive in hopes of getting the barn placed back in the building. That was a treat. For the complete info take a peek at the house in the house thread

Well where did that month and a half go ?

The big house is almost empty and the never ending packing and moving is almost done.

Just kinda camping out in the big house now.

Just last night I moved two very full trailer loads of furniture to the building.I have pared down to about
7-8 pieces of furniture / appliances.

I have to remove a tire and rim from the caboose and get a new/used tire for one that is just too bad to move it on. I will try and get that done Saturday. I have a co worker who has a small semi who is willing to move it for me real soon.

It will be kinda nice to be able to get back to work on my tiny house. I have been so damn busy trying to get out of the big house I kinda feel like a hampster on a wheel, going like hell and getting no where.

The worst part was setting on my hands unable to do anything and stareing out the window at the snow and the sub zero wind. Being snowed out of the house in a house unable to even get near the building with my truck and trailer. It seems that spring might be around the corner and with the longer days and better weather I will finally be able to get things done.

Oh I did get a very serious start on my mobile utilities station I am building onto the glider trailer.

I have gotten the two sets of solar panels a 2000 watt inverter a set of 4 six volt golf cart batteries and finally my rain water storage tank

Image

It is spotless inside and had contained high fructose corn syrup. It must have been steam cleaned it looks absolutely brand new.

Well as planned the caboose now has a new shoe. I ran from tire shop to tire shop for a good used take off and struck out. Came home some what dejected and went past a little fly by night repair shop 8 houses from mine and the banks big house and decided to just ask out of desperation. He looked around and found a good used one. He removed the dry rotted flat tire from the rim , cleaned the rim, mounted the new tire , and even carried it out and tossed it in the trunk. I asked how much, he said $10.00, I handed him a $20.00 and thanked him and walked away.

I unloaded my new/old tire and tipped it up against the caboose and hopped back in the car to run other errands. When I arrived home the tire was already installed on the trailer. My neighbor Tommy saw it and put it on for me. I am gonna miss my neighbors they are great people. A few buddies and I used Sunday to run 2 trailer loads of junk and appliances to the house in a house storage building. My big flat bed trailer is now there permanetly as well. I have my insurance agent planning coverage for the caboose as a summer cottage type insurance for fire theft and comp when placed on the property in Frankfort. I also am getting renters insurance on the storage building contents for the house in a house in Lafayette.

My new life as a tiny house owner is about to commence :NC

HEY HEY ! The realtors came thru ......

I have before me an offer for the short sale of the banks house in an amount that the bank had agreed to as a previous counter offer. The buyer has certified funds in excess of what the total offer is and they are ready and waiting.

ONLY ONE PROBLEM

She liked the little caboose in the driveway so much she has attempted to include it in the further conditions as to be included. I wrote the realtor and told them while I didn't want to block the sale, the caboose is definatly not part of the banks short sale.

Bob,

If the caboose becomes a sticking point for the sale,,
Offer to sell it for replacement cost.

I would be willing to bet it would fall by the side when the cost is revealed.
All of that CUSTOM work that has gone into it, will drive the price out of the picture.
If by chance they still want it,, Set your own price, ( cash only ) !!!!

Congratulations on the upcoming sale !!
