Hello all! Checking in from the Denver area.

I am in the very beginning stages of a full restoration of my uncles '71 VW Westy (I have been its caretaker since '91). It has been a very sturdy camper for many many years and has not only traveled all over the US but my aunt and uncle did the European pick up when they purchased it new in '71. They picked it up in England and traveled around Europe as a whole for just about 18 months. I actually lived out of it for 4 months back in the fall of 2012 when I took a temp job with eBay out in San Jose, worked perfect!

anyway... My plans are for a much more stout engine when complete, enough so that a small trailer will be able to be pulled. My initial thoughts are something small and even a single wheel design built mainly from aluminum (still need to learn how to weld aluminum). Still very much in the planning phases.

I look forward to learning a lot from this board and it's members. Really looks like a great community!

Here's a couple pix of my bus

Love it, Love it, had a bus in.... , well it was a tiny bit different and I was a kid, any way had a friend who stripped it out had a new headliner put in and seat covers and finally a bunk for a little bed he put in a little kitchen cabinet and had drop table. I had a 72 Chev van and after 1982 I took the seats out and built cabinets and a shelf for ???? and that is as far as I got then we took everything out put the seats back in and sold it. I promise you can do it but with reality in mind add a few hundred dollars to what you think it will cost. upgrades and what you find that is worn out that you don't see now. Good Luck and hope you put some type build in the right build thread!!!!
