Well......the saying goes......."if you can't beat them, join them" stands. I thought there was at least one more. Oh well, just think of my trailer as an oversized tear with four wheels. LOL  I'm still looking forward to the first camping weekend of 2014 and interested in touring all the custom tears.

Hi Dennis,

Yes you are correct. Sold the 10 ft Silver Shadow (13.5 ft total) and bought a Scamp 13ft total length Scamp. Getting old and its tough to get dressed inside the tear.

I really like the Scamp idea. Tim (St. Croix co-director) is holding a gathering Mille Lacs Kathio State Park 2-4 May 2014 http://www.tearjerkers.net/new_forum/vi ... =37&t=6997 in which we have a gathering of tears and egg heads. Great idea. We went to this park/gathering last year and had a great time.

Wi urban camo I believe we have three cargo conversions at this time. Hopefully we will still get Bkcreation34 (Brian) to join us for this year's event. Brian spends a lot of his time volunteering for the Red Cross and as a result his cargo conversion is in some respects better than my home. It is really first class. Brian made many of our last year events but also missed a few because of last minute disasters in the U.S.

As to what kinds of trailers are coming: we certainly have tears both manufacturer and home built, an egg head, several cargo, one pop up camper, with a possible restoration of a historic trailer (Dawn please come). I'm sure we will also have a couple of trailers that don't fit into any of the previous categories. Glenn are you and Opal going to be back in time for Cooler with your Sea Bee build? Only trailer out there with a turret mounted 50 cal. on it. We are an eclectic group. :applause: :applause:

Do I hear three! I'm no longer an outcast.......whoooo.

This coming spring I will be selling my Aliner with a built in stove cooktop (hint)and I remembered my new trailer does not have a camping stove. My research is pointing me towards the Camp Chef Mountain Series 2 Burner/High Pressure Stove. I also plan on bringing one dutch oven that has only cooked a few meals. Looks like a recipe search on this forum is needed before the camping date. 8)

If you are looking for another camping outing then put June 18 (Wednesday) through June 21 (Sunday) on your calendar.

Our very own Sherry K (Cooler site #9) has started a camping thread over on the Tearjerkers web site.

I for one can not get enough camping.

Gary,

We had a brand new 4x8 tear that we took out to Yellowstone in June 2012...got back and wanted to buy one of the "Cadillac Tears" but a mear $250 came between me and the tear ..so we instead got a 5x8 w/air from a different manufacturer.....had to customized it with interior marine lights, front window, custom cabinets in the galley, 32 ford tail lights, etc........had to unload it quick last fall.....just picked up the Scamp took it to Moab Utah, Durango and Ouray Colorado late fall of 2013.....and had to make it our own....cherry cabinets, table, flooring, custom wheels and might have it painted by the time we get to Kohler Andre.....9 more weeks and it's campin' season  :applause:

Bill,

At any gathering of tears I personally love to walk around and see all the ideas that people have incorporated. It does not matter if you are talking a home built or or a manufactured tear there is always something cool that I would like to add to mine. I have a 5x8 manufactured Pleasant Valley tear but yet I think the makers of it would be surprised by how much I have changed it. I've added 3 hitches so that I can attached a spare tire and tables to the sides. Air and heat are a must. Revised cabinetry to meet my needs. Led lighting and Television. The list goes on.

We camp with an amazing group of people. I'm looking forward to getting a tour of your scamp. I think they are really a great little trailer. Still made in Minnesota I believe.

Gary,

Yes they are still made in Backus, MN at the site of the original Scamp factory (which burned down several years ago...I remember reading about it in the local papers). They have a very interesting history. Being from Craig's old stomping grounds, they have always held a fascination for him. On one of our trips back to the North Country a couple of years ago, we finally got a chance to stop in, visit with them & take a tour of the factory. They are a great bunch & make a very nice product.

As Gary mentioned above, it's always great to walk around and see what others have done to personalize their trailers.

I've been coming to CNTL for a few years. Has a pseudo-organized "Tour of Tears" ever been held?

I'm thinking of something where we gather at an appointed time and walk to each trailer to tour it. I know my wife would love to have some "warning" before I give a tour. So if we set up a time to get together we could all have our beds made and cupboards organized before the viewing.

What say ye, group? How about a scheduled walk of homes?

Since not everyone would be here until Friday night I would suggest either later on Friday evening as part of our meet and greet or after breakfast on Saturday morning.

With the preparation of the Saturday meal and the finals of the horseshoe tournament I would not think later Saturday afternoon or evening would be conducive to a tour. Most people in the past have wanted to enjoy the warmth and a good fire in the shelter on Saturday evening. Sunday morning there will be some people pulling out before some of us are up so not Sunday.

What are your thoughts?

Later Friday evening evening would be good. I am hoping to get a group together to go out geocaching on Saturday. That will probably have to e right after breakfast on Saturday so we can get back for the horseshoe tourny.

My choice would also be Friday night. I have been trying to keep Saturday open as much as possible for those people who would like to experience the area.

Most campers will be there by 7:30-8 but not all will be set up as they would prefer.
