Hello from the Hoosier State...

Postby Atomic77 » Tue Feb 11, 2014 11:29 pm

Hello Everyone...
I'm Michael and I'm from Fort Wayne Indiana. I've been a lurker on this site for several months now...Reading, studying and taking in good ideas and information. I was originally going to build a 5' TD...But as time has progressed I've decided I want a standy that incorporates a fixed seating area, a fixed sleeping area, inside kitchen and toilet. I'm currently working up prints based on the T@B L400 series. I purchased a pop-up...dismantled it, put a new axle under it with leaf springs and electric brakes; as well as widened it. I'll have a TD Standy that is 7' wide and 6'3 high at the tallest point inside. I've also been working on foam 3-D Models of the exterior and interior. I'll be posting some pic's here one of these days...I know how we all like pic's. Thanks for the good information and ideas. This is a great place to get my creative juices flowing.
Michael

I was in Washington State twice this summer. Once in the Tri-Cities and once in Seattle. Both times for Hydro races. We won in Seattle...

Ahh, the Unlimiteds!
I remember when they used to run here on Okanangan Lake in the mid sixties.
Good Luck with your new build.

Welcome Michael from Greenwood. Thinking we might gather at Pokagan SP in 2015 for one of our gatherings.

Welcome! You're doing what we thought of before we realized we didn't have the time, talent and ambition all at the same time :). Yup...there is a lot of good information here, but more important than that is good people!

I know FTW is a long hail but try to make it to the spring or summer gatherings. There's always a little extra at the pot lucks, and there's usually an abundance of tall tales. It's worth the day...you won't regret it. The Hoosier chapter is pretty active...and we've definitely got our share of colorful people :)

Prohandyman, Pokagon sounds good, I've been trying to get up there for 3 years now, and every time we get close, life happens. A gathering will tend to anchor that date a bit....

Pokagon is a great park. We were just there for some wintertime entertainment. The toboggan run is great btw. And the campground is open year round with electricity. I've snow-camped there many times. And I have a gf that snow-camps with me. You can't beat that... :)

GerryS... I get the "biting off more than you can chew" concept. ;) But I've thought this through for months and I've got a good plan, CAD designed prints and 30 years of building street rods, motorcycles and championship race boats. This should be a piece of cake. ;)

Thanks!
Michael
