hi all great forum my name is adam i am from the uk, i am going to build an airstream base camp clone.
my plan is to make the trailer frame from 50x50mm box section and the rest of the frame in 25x25mm box then wrap it in 1.5mm sheet steel. paint the lot black with black tinted windows and a nice set of alloy wheels. i have bought the steel for the trailer and started to tack it together but that's as far as i have got so far.

Welcome. There are a few of us on the forum from the uk.
I'm really interested to see how you do it and keep us posted with your progress. Photos!

If you are looking for bits and pieces, Albert Jaeger have a decent catalogue.

Sounds great, but you plan to paint it black? How will that be in the unlikely event that the sun shines ?

Seriously though think carefully about insulation as a black steel skin and a steel frame will produce a very effective solar oven. Even with good cavity insulation the heat bridges of the steel frame will bypass that summer or winter.

Welcome to the Forum!
I too was going to comment on your choice of black.....But you are in the UK not Arizona.
So I would just remind you to pay close attention to water proofing!
Pontoons might be the order of the day for this year if things continue to go the way they are going with your weather of late??? :R
