Been reading a lot about teardrops and think I would love to build one. I hunt and getting a little too ole to sleep in a tent on the ground. Several camps at hunting lease have been broken into several time, so I thought about building a 4x8 sleeping area with not much to be harmed. Well enough said I ended up researching Teardrops and just love them. With one of these I can drive up to camp with my little baby, spend the night in comfort, hunt the next morning then head home or stay longer. I only live 30 mins from the hunting lease so not a big deal. Just getting up at 4am in the morning at home and driving is a pain. I am now retire 4 years with some time to play now. You will also have a kitchen to have a hot meal in the evening after the hunt. With a little fore thought, there will be very little to setup or but away. You might even use it as a blind or stand(a rack on top?)

Never thought about using as a blind, now that is a thought. Man it can get cold on a power line. Thanks.

Welcome to this great site. Hope you come up with a nice trailer that you can use for many reasons. Its against the low to shoot out of a truck but they never said anything about a tear drop. Oh remember we love to see your build as it goes along we live on pictures.

The Teardrop hunting blind thing has me going now. We have more coyotes around here and I just love to shoot them at several hundred yards out. Now using the TD as a blind could be great for this as well.

I too am looking at building a smaller one, but for a different reason, I am planning on watching the weight on mine for the reason of pulling it with my bike. Maybe if you live close enough we can put hour heads together and both come out with some outstanding trailers. who knows swap a few hunting stories along the way as well.

I live in Cumming, GA on the banks of Lake Lanier. I too am a bike freak, ride a Townie around the area and pull a cart sometimes while in Tybee Island. Good luck and more than happy to collaborate if needed over a beer. I have build a lot of things and the TD really has my interest now.

I know exactly where you are Joe! Not that far away. Will have to get together for that beer for sure. Yes, I am getting through the planning stage on mine now, and should start the build in a few weeks, Main thing is getting time off at work. This is our busy season and we are running like crazy. This is going to be my first weekend off and I have already been told by the GF that there will be no Gun range, no projects, no nothing but her time this weekend.... LOL

Oh well. Just have to go with the flow for now. Take care my friend. Got a little over 3 hours and I am off for the weekend.

Ok I cheated a little bit, bought a TD off Craigs List that is 2 years ole for less than I could have built one. Making small changes now, already has 12volt dc and 110 volt ac set up, primitive but working. I need a good 12vlt battery now, I have a Honda 1000 inverter generator that will drive everything I want plus I have solar panels and controller if I go that route. It is a convertible TD, top unsnaps so you can see the sky thru a screen in top. Not too sure how I feel about this right now. Also has plywood doors with plexiglas windows that do not open. Was looking at some of the doors that you can buy but $300 a door ($600 both) is a little steep for me. I have some pictures but can not figure out how to post them. Keep getting a kick back saying invalid format. I am on a Mac computer, not sure if that could be it. Do not have trouble on other forums I subscribe to.

Congrats on your teardrop choice.You can be using it a lot sooner than building from scratch.I agree $300 a door is alot but many will agree that buying
windows,hinges,trim adds up and hours of time.Since you already have the door you might consider a "wiley window".

Congrats on getting a TD. I am in Ellijay and about to have mine done. If you are looking to get away in the mountains there is several places up here, but most of the places I camp I dry camp no running water or electricity.

That would be fun, dry camping is how I grew up. Besides I am solar powered. I am working on getting my internal electric panels up to my liking. Also ventilation appears to be an issue, slept in the TD the other night in the driveway. Boy was it scary, . Mine is a convertible with screen under a snap on top, can not put a vent in the top as of yet. Thinking of covering the top with something harder (wood) so I can put a vent in the top. Alway will go out today and get a good deep cycle battery for my power storage needs.

Joe Welcome !! Im sorry I didn't welcome you earlier but my computer was broken. I live at the state line in west GA. You will find that there is so much help here on the forum. I suggest that you read and read and use the Google search above. it is very helpful in finding what you need to help, Check out the specific areas like the electrical and plumbing topics. I nearly have finished mine and if I can build a teardrop, you can too !!! Welcome!
