New from Texas

Postby deeter » Sat Feb 22, 2014 11:22 pm

Hello all,
New to the board (though have been following a while) and my daughter and I are working on our first teardrop. We started with the Generic Benroy plan but was worried about the hatch and so have modified it with a smaller hatch not going all the way to the floor. We are located in the Dallas area, just to the north east. Our building adventure started when my daughter saw a show on teardrops about a year or so ago and we've been working on it off and on since (she has always loved camping and building things)...we're at the point now where I think we'll actually get this thing finished and be camping in the next month or so. We've had a great time working on it so far and my daughter has learned some great building skills...

We have really enjoyed and learned a lot from the board over the last year and look forward to camping soon.

Hi Clay (et filia)

Welcome and sounds like you've practically finished. I'd love to see some photos.

I've fallen in a few holes in my build.(galley hatch blunder) Have you any advice to share on your build?

Looking forward to your posts

Welcome Clay!,

As BC said, check out the South Central section for area gatherings. The granddaddy event for the South Central section is in October at Lake Bisteneau State Park southeast of Shreveport. We'd to see y'all there or at Tyler SP, Beavers Bend, etc.

Take care,
Tom

Thanks for the information on the gatherings, we'll definitely try to make one of those coming up. Trying to get pictures together and will post as soon as I can...looking back over the time we've been working on it, think I must have taken pictures on at least 5 different smartphones and cameras.

thanks again.
