Newguy from Alaska

Greetings from Anchorage.
You folks seem to be a friendly bunch who's company I'll enjoy. :) I've been interested in teardrops for years and found this site while looking at galley photos a while back. I won't be able to build one for a while yet, but with all the features to consider it's going to take a while to make up my mind anyway. I'm definitely leaning towards a foamy because of the insulation possibilities. Winter here just means a different type of outdoor fun. 8)

I can just see you with a foamy on a old pair of snowmobile skis strapped on the tires. Anywhere camping with warm bed and a build in kitchen. Knowing that you have a safe haven when you stop for the night or catch some bad weather.
Sounds like a lot of fun times.

We think alike. I was working out how to put skis on one. I think I'd do it like aircraft skis. And you're right about a nice warm place after a day in the cold. :campfire:

Welcome aboard,
As you mentioned, there are a great bunch of folks on the site and there are more ideas and great comments on any questions than can be packed in a book! :applause:
I keep thinking of a trip to Alaska, but just haven't made it yet ... I like metal detecting and built, and am still building, my CT just for that very purpose!
I like your idea regarding the foamy build and that sounds important in Alaska ... Hmm, skies on a TD, that might work if you can get the dogs to pull it!
Good luck on the build...
Happy Camping & Building,
John (JC)

Welcome to the forum! I am sitting here watching "Wild West Alaska", that show about a gun shop in Anchorage. It's pretty entertaining but I'm not sure some of these people should have guns. Good luck making your teardrop.!!!!

I have no doubt you are correct.

Just keep working on it. The only problem is, once you get here, you may not want to leave. You'd be surprised how many folks move up here once they've come just to "visit". 8)

No dogs. That's a lifestyle in itself. The jeep could do it just fine. If I ever spring for some Mattracks, those skis would be just the ticket. :snow

I don't know anyone up here that watches that show. I personally think anyone who participates in reality tv shouldn't posses firearms because it shows a distinct lack of good judgement. :duh

Good luck making your teardrop.!!!!

Thank you, although it'll have to wait awhile. Lots of things to consider. :scratchthinking:
