New from central California

Postby teamredjeep » Mon Mar 03, 2014 7:42 am

My wife and I have been exploring California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona and even New Mexico with our class c motorhome or our Jeep pulling a off road trailer. We realized the last few years the RV has been going unused and we have mainly been camping in a tent out of our Jeep and off road trailer. We enjoy going off the grid and where we seldom see another person for days. We decided to sell the RV but our at a age where we desire more than a tent, so we ordered an off road capable TD. We hope to learn and share stories with other TD obsessed owners which I think we already have become.

Welcome Teamredjeep! Sounds like you got great plans for your new unit. What part of Cencal is home port in? ..I do think I recognize Mono Lake in your first picture, the eastern slope is a wonderful playground and some of Californias best fly fishing areas, cannot wait for Sonora pass to open so I can get over there. Keep us posted when the new unit arrives with pictures...we love pictures. .. *Larry* .. :D

Recived some photos on our build from the manufacturer today. Looks like delivery should be in a few weeks. Once roof is on in the next few days they will build the exoskeleton, then cabin gets seperated to be completed while exoskeleton/frame goes to powder coat.

What it should look like done.

Looks like you will be ready for the bulk of the camping season. That's a nice unit and it appears to be suited for the rough country. Happy Camping and Wheeling!

Welcome from a las vegan Nice trailer but you might want to watch it on some of those trails its still made of wood and all that twisting and rolling over rocks and it could start to come apart. Well happy camping to you and your wife

One of the reasons we picked this trailer is Fred the builder has been four wheeling on some of the toughest trails the Sierra National forest has like Dusy Ershim, Swamp Lake and Mirror Lake. All these trails could be considered in the same class as the famous Rubicon trail, minus the drunks and idiots. He knows what the cabin has to go through, I to was concerned with wood on the Jeep trail until I visited his shop and seen the construction of the CNC cut vacuum laminate walls, connected with t-bolts, cross set screws, glue and reinforced in all the right places. I realized the cabin was built like a brick $%#t house, that sold me on the trailer and knowing it has been tested/used on some of serious trails the Sierra's have. Unlike some other off road builders who seem to use the same cabin for their street and off road models.Fred does not even offer a on road model.

On the other hand we really have been there done that on most of the serious rock crawling trails and really enjoy exploring the Nevada back country and the Southwestern deserts more now. That being said the trailer is probably overkill and for the price of the trailer risking damage on a serious Jeep trail would be stupid on my part when I have a very capable Jeep trailer and tent to us also.

Thanks for the welcome, Vegas is a great jumping off point for the stuff we enjoy!
