Presents on the Porch - Great Deal on Bike/Roof Racks

Postby Oldragbaggers » Tue Mar 04, 2014 6:10 pm

I had 3 boxes of teardrop goodies waiting on my porch this evening. Time for spring outfitting to begin!!

We have a new mattress because the one I bought last year was too soft and Lance had backaches at the end of each trip. This one is firmer (medium density) and thicker (6"). He has test driven it on the dining room floor and gives his approval.

Also we have roof racks and a pair of bicycle racks. I really scored on them. They are both Swagman and I found them on sale on Overstock.com. I saved about $100 over what they would have cost on eTrailer.

The roof top racks (designed for a pop up) were $100.99. We're hoping to stumble on a cheap canoe or pair of kayaks to carry up there.

The bicycle racks were on sale for $61.99 for a 2-PACK!!! I am hoping to mount them across the tongue of the trailer to hold the Citizen folding bikes. Our full sized bikes were too big to carry up there and still have room for the truck to turn, but I think the folders might work out fine. If that doesn't work out they'll go on the roof rack.

Such a great deal!!! Now all I need is some weather warm enough to get outside and install them.

We have a 12 day road trip to Florida coming up for spring break and the only thing left on the outfitting list is a new stove. Can't wait for this camping season to start!!
Life is sooooo good.........

Great deals Becky. I get Overstocks emails everyday and never thought to check for camping stuff. Maybe I should start looking at them! Have fun installing everything and have a safe trip to where it is warm and sunny.( Neither of which we have seen for months.)

Me too. I get the emails but never look at them. I will now.

I have similar bike racks but made by Thule. They are now on a home made receiver support that also uses the post and frame hooks from Swagman. This is all on the rear of our fiberglass Uhaul camper. I have used a Swagman rack on the tongue of our teardrop. I think it is the XC2 rack, wheels set in loops, hooks slide down a center post to set over the bike frame. We are using full size bikes. Using modified Thule kayak racks on our Honda CRV. Recently sold our canoe, keeping our 5 kayaks, all bought used.
