new build

Postby fob » Fri Mar 07, 2014 1:55 pm

ive started my build today 8x4single skin 18mm ply ive got the base sides and rear sorted and ive got the hatch frame ready to apply ply tomorrow

im just wondering the best way to do this
option one just have the ply over hang the hatch so 7mm thick {im going to double skin it}
or is it best to use some of the side as surport as well

not sure ive explained this very well

Hi fob,

What we do for our galley hatch set-up is; put the entire hatch system togeather, and then do the final cut of the teardrop after we have a good idea of where the hatch is going to hang at rest. As for the overhang (if I'm understandinging you correctly) we go about it the same way you are thinking.. We cut our hatch aluminum to custom fit the max width of the walls in the galley area and let the aluminum overhang about 2 inches or so on the bottom, and depending on how thick your sides are with trim, the overhang would match that on each of them.

Hope this helps
