New from Central Wisconsin

Postby ronb » Sat Mar 08, 2014 10:41 am

Hi all from Central Wisconsin.

I'm just getting started in planning what I hopefully will be a build this summer. The sun is actually out today so there is some hope winter may be nearing an end.

I'm little overwhelmed by the amount of helpful information shared here. I've gathered many good ideas lurking over the last couple of months.

Thank you to everyone for sharing your ideas and experiences.

Like RioWilson indicated a good way to get ideas for a build is to go to a gathering. You don't need to camp but it helps having lots of time and getting to know people. There are two bigger gatherings in Wisconsin, Cooler by the Lake (Last weekend in April) and CampInn Campout (4th weekend in September. We already have one pop up camper coming who is a potential builder looking for ideas.

Information on this year's Cooler can be found here; viewtopic.php?f=1&t=57806

My trailer is currently located in Wild Rose (can't get more central than that) and I will be up there enjoying the snow the later part of this week. It really does help to put more information about where you are located on a forum like this as a member may actually be close to you and you wouldn't have to far to ask for help or have a camping buddy. I have enjoyed socializing with some of the forums members outside of camping.

Rarely have I ever gone to a gathering and not gone away with a new idea I want to incorporate into my trailer.

Hello and welcome to another central Wisconsinite! Bob and I have had our TCTeardrop a whole year now, went on quite a few camping trips last year and just love it. Company is based out of Wausau and the owners are always glad to show folks around, if you wanted to "eyeball" a ready made outfit. RetroRide is based in Plover, Wi. We're located in between those towns.

Will also be going to the "Cooler by the Lake" gathering in late April. Probably won't make the CampIn gathering, but have plans to make the TCTeardrop gathering the first weekend of October at Indian Trails Campground, east of Portage. Last year's attendees consisted of just TCT owners, but all teardrop owners and those just interested in them were invited (the same this year).

Hope to see you sometime on the teardrop trail. :)

Thanks for all the information.

We'll put the April gathering on our calendar and see when it gets a little closer if we can pop over for the day.

We are located in Wausau and have been down and took a look at the RetroRide teardrops. We plan to visit TCT before we make a decision on buy/build.

Welcome Ron! We look forward to camping with you. Definitely hit a gathering. There are great Tears and Great folks at Cooler by the Lake. Also if you want to head in the Minnesota direction, there are some gatherings planned over here. Have fun with your build!

Welcome Ron from South central Wisconsin. I just talked with the people from TCTeardrop down here in Madison at the Canoecopia they have a nice product. They also mentioned about the get-together in October near Portage. Hope to see you out and about enjoying the outdoors - just look for the 1936 Ford rat rod pickup truck pulling a teardrop, stop by and say Hi :) later this summer.

I am also from Central Wisconsin, Spencer! I have a 1969 Sprite 400 that I may possibly redo.
