Rattle Can final coat(s)

I've used some garage floor paint on my TD and the third coat has filled in all the wood grain and it now has a semi gloss finish.
My plan was to then paint it with a wood exterior paint to get the final red colour. Now that it's come up so well I'm tempted to use an automotive paint in a spray/rattle can.
The cost is going to be about the same however I'd like some advice on painting with a rattle can and also if you think this is advisable or if I should just go with painting with a roller.



One of the advantages, I'm told that there is red-blue all the way to red-orange so the colour can be "chosen" by looking at cars before I buy the paint.

I don't have a compressor or access to one or I'd consider other options.

The aerosol paint goes on too thin in my opinion.

This spot on the Caboose was an entire large can of tractor enamel.



I later purchased 2 gallon of the same paint and rolled and brushed the 2 coats and it actually flowed very well and there was no hint of just how it was applied. It is as nice as I could have hoped.




I have used oil base enamel tractor paint for several projects and am extremely happy with the results. There is something about the tractor enamel that enhances the flow characteristics and even though oil base enamel it touch dries in about 6 hours.

I had one old trailer made out of an old pickup bed and after 22 years the paint was still 100% in tact. It was somewhat sun faded but it never saw any attention after it was applied and sat outside each and every day of its life.
