Our reservation is "on-season" and with full hookups (ours has a 50 amp / 30 amp / 15 amp electric box, full sewer and water) it ended up being $39 / night not including tax and fees. If you go to this site http://www.southcarolinaparks.com/myrtlebeach/camping.aspx you can see the "generic" rates, but also if you use the "Park Reservations" button on the left side of the page, you can go through the steps without paying and see how much a particular site is for the season. This is where my map may help as you can see, from the list of available sites, which ones I rated "A". NOTE: This is a VERY POPULAR park and sometimes hard to get in unless you make reservations month's ahead...

Also, if by Dry Camping you mean no electric / no water, they have overflow camping sites in a nice wooded area, but not sure if you can use those unless the campground is full. All sites at MB have at least 20AMP electric and water...but with views like this it's worth it:

Here is another sorta hidden place in SC that is absolutely gorgeous, Hunting Island State Park, and yes, it's an Island on the Atlantic ocean right outside of Beaufort, SC.

Image

This was our site, and as you can see, it is right on the ocean with the morning tide coming right up to the site...the Ranger was advising us that the ocean sometimes overflows sites, which it did the morning after we left...

Here is a shot of the beach, looking down towards the lighthouse (which you can go up in)...

And if you are interested in seeing some of the sites, I have 74 pictures here: https://picasaweb.google.com/109751677697507255922/HuntingIslandNov2013?authuser=0&feat=directlink

And just like the MB Map, I have a map of all the sites at Hunting Island, which we personally looked at (every one!) and circled the "best" ones, again for privacy, location and general niceness...Note that Hunting Island has no full hookups, but almost all sites have electric and water...

Ditto - Nice!
That area is not to far from me in VA. Will have to add it to my list of places to go.

If anyone is interested in the dry camping at Myrtle Beach State Park, I will be there starting this Saturday, and since it is in-season I can check on it. I THINK you can use those spots even if the regular camp sites are open, but like I said I can check and also check how much.

You should post some of your excellent camping information on the "Camping/Gatherings in the Southeast" Area also. I bet there are a lot of people there that would really appreciate you sharing campground information there too.

Beautiful pictures. I have only been there once, but would love to get back there again sometime.

We drove down to Edisto last fall and scoped out the campground, I will have to look for our notes and post what we found!

Just returned from Myrtle Beach State Park, and did a more in-depth tour of the GNAT. You can view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jtE9CIoEaQ&feature=share&list=PLyLB-Nmu1vZzMTT0z1Euqiq15dhP8wc0g

The only thing that we found out was that the water heater leaked during the colder mornings. I figured out that the brass fitting from the hot water output was expanding and the PVC fitting attached to it would "stretch", then when hot water was off, the brass fitting contracted, causing a very small leak. I am going to change to all-brass for the hot water side. Other than that it worked great.

Here are a set of photos from our Myrtle Beach camping trip. I swear I saw one of the rigs featured in this site there, but every time we walked by it the guy was gone, and then he left. It popped up from the front, and was angular shaped on front, olive green, and probably 8ft long...any way, the first few pics are uncaptioned and random, but then they get better (and captioned):

I also inquired about the overflow area, and they don't open it until later in the spring, but only when there is no sites available...

Just returned from Table Rock State Park in SC, and posted how I made a DIY awning for the GNAT. You can view the DIY post at https://goodnuffandtuff.wordpress.com/2014/06/16/diy-awning/ and a few pictures of our setup at Table Rock at http://goodnuffandtuff.wordpress.com/2014/06/16/trip-to-table-rock-state-park-sc/

I just finished installing the window air conditioner which you can view HERE: http://goodnuffandtuff.wordpress.com/2014/07/04/air-conditioning-check/ This is the non-welding method I came up with (I don't weld)...

Lots of great ideas here - thanks for sharing.

I'm so torn on my build - everything revolves now on whether I'm going to commit to using it alone or sharing it.

Did you have to reinforce the door to hang all that or does it hold everything pretty sturdy?

Khigh: No, didn't have to reinforce the door. This is an all-steel trailer, and is rated at 3500GVW. Before I put anything on the door I hung on it for 5 minutes (I weight 200 lbs), and it never creaked or groaned. The total weight on that door is probably under 100 lbs, and it is such a tight fit when closing the door (kitchen) that I will immediately notice it if it ever starts sagging. It's been on 5 trips in the last year with absolutely no problem. Thanks for asking.
