i went out and bought the sail track during the week i could only get a 6.5m length so i got it docked in half took it home measured it from rivet to rivet and it works out like i knew what i was doing with no waste no daggy end and mounts perfectly to the van shell making it bend to the profile of the van was the biggest problem as it is thicker on one side than the other as i curved it around the vans edge it twists and pulls but nothing a extra set of hands couldn't fix

the sail track now covers the join that the side wall and roof sections made and with enough over hang to stop rain run off down the walls as well as providing somewhere to mount the awnings off

the above pics are a prototype the real deal will look much better

next is to find some checker plate vinyl flooring to mount on the front of the van to stop stone chips
then mount the rear sail track and make and fit two cover strips over the remaining joints in the roof fit the guards when they turn up with a bit of luck ill start wiring lights fans and tail lights

the guards turned up today i mucking around with fitment of them im planing on leaning the guards back so the front of the guard is level with the bottom of the frame of the trailer and the rear of the guard is lower so i might not need mud flaps

have a look

i have been a bit slack lately i got stuck in today and finished mounting the rear ej tail lights i have a few swear to impart to who ever put the thought im my head about using ej tail lights there was a lot of cutting grinding hammering welding and o so much swear
but there in

Image

well just sitting there at the moment until i make some mounting brackets
i had to remove the buckets in order to fit the lights the bucket was simply to big to work so i made my own backing plate and i am now going to run led strips inside the lights to save some room over the old incandescent lights

and the next job was a door handle now i wasn't just going to bungings and get on off the shelf thing like the old man was telling me that would look like
so i raided the parts draws and found an old door mech from an ej
i made a temp and started drilling

Image

Image

then i made spacers to move the mech back a bit so the handle wasn't so far from the face of the door

Image

then i marked the door

Image

THEN reboot the phone went flat so ill get some more pics tomorow
