Thanks Mary.

Went to Lowes to day and got me a small window ac unit. Came home and ran it with my little Honda 1000 inverter generator and all was fine. It worked like a charm. Measured and cut the hole for ac into top shelf at rear of TD. Nice fit and the generator works great with it. Man can the TD get cold. I was working on ventilation but the ac unit has a just fan mode and I think this will solve my problem. Not so sure I will put a big #27 or #29 deep cycle in now that I know gen will run ac. This gen is quite and very good on gas consumption. Next issue is closing in top. I also guess I need to move my update to another thread.

Hold on! Does it also have a fresh air selector? My window AC I took the cover off of has no fresh air intake, running fan mode only circulates the inside air. If your AC does not bring in any fresh air, you'll still need ventilation for breathing air.

I will need to check that out. I have 3 computer type fans I recovered from some large electronic equipment and they are 12v. Run quite and up until the AC unit I was going to use them. Another test sleep out is needed.

Welcome Joe. I built my TD about three years ago and customized the plans I had to suit my needs. That's the best part of building your own. I took my time and did some things that weren't in the book. I didn't do no readin, are you kiddin? I welded the inside skirts to the fenders so when I bolted them to the cabin they're are now super strong and I can stand on them without worry. It's the little things that will make a cool TD your cool TD. And it can be a work in progress so if you don't have a great idea for something you can do it later. Enjoy the ride.

Hi Joe - Welcome to the forum and congratulations on finding a project in the works. I am in Roswell and have been building a 5 x 8 BenRoy based on Mike's plans in the T&TTT design resources above. I'm within a couple weeks of completion and it has really turned out great. Like you, I am retired and am a hunter, fisherman, amateur photographer and wish I had built this tear fifteen years ago. If you need any help finding resources, feel free to message me. I put two of the pre-made doors from Vintage Technologies on mine and I love them. You're right - they are pricey but when I compared them with the costs of building, I decided to save myself the time and frustration of building them myself. I have a Yakima roof rack on mine and never thought about using it for a blind but it would probably work really well. I have one of the "doghouse" ground blinds that I could set up on a sheet of plywood on the rack. Hope to meet you at one of the gatherings when we both get the TD's on the road. Have fun with it. This forum is really an incredible resource. Bill  :wine:
