Newbies from SoCal

Hi everyone. We just got our new teardrop a week ago that was custom built for us by Crybaby Teardrops in Huntington Beach. We got it just in time for my wife's spring break (she's a teacher). We took it camping in Crystal Cove then Borrego Springs. We loved it! Can't wait to get out with the new trailer again!
Here's a few pictures from it's maiden voyage.

Crystal Cove. We attached a tent for our two dogs to sleep in. Also makes a nice changing room and porta-potty.

Our set-up in Borrego Springs. It got very windy at night and we couldn't stake the tent down (pavement) so we backed the SUV up to the door on one side of the trailer with the tailgate open and sealed it off the best we could with a tarp. The dogs slept in the SUV attached to our trailer. It worked great! We were using a 45 watt solar panel from Harbor Freight Tools. It turned out to be overkill, so as soon as we got back home I removed one of the panels from the array and mounted it on the roof. It gives us 15 watts which works very well and is hassle free.

Wow looks like a great time, have not made any of the southern calif. beaches yet... but will before long. Enjoy that teardrop! If you are from or near Seal Beach try "Patty's Place" for dinner, great food and they are my cousins too!.......Larry

Hey, nice TD, looks like you had a great time, and I'm sure you will have a great summer! We are set to pic our TD up this Sat., camp a couple of nights on the way home, and break it in. Our situation is much like yours, we also have two big dogs, and also a solar panel to try out. We are not taking our dogs on the first trip to pick it up, we have to drive to Eugene, Oregon, unload the back of the car into the teardrop, and we thought it might be hard with two dogs. We are also going to get some kind of side tent set up. Welcome to the Forum!

Boy.... I'll Say! The wife and I drove up to Seal Beach and visited them at the resturant last year while down visiting the daughter and her family at Camp Pendleton. Ron's mother and my father (both gone now) are brother and sister. Vey small world!.... Keep us posted on your camping trips....Larry :D :D :D

Wecome to the board, Bill and Patti. I live in Wildomar, just north of Temecula where the I-15 and I-215 meet. If you ever plan to come over the mountains on the Ortega Highway, or skirt them via freeway, perhaps we could do a bit of camping in some nearby campground. Most of that kind of camping for me, is spur of the moment, since I now live alone and can split at the drop of a hat. I'm always anxious to meet other So Calif teardroppers. You have a nice looking set up, and seem to be prepared for leisure camping with the dogs. I can relate to that. I've got a couple of pomerainians that sleep in my rig and are no trouble at all.
