Starting to feel like an April Fools joke. Got the offer this morning when I fired up the computer at work about 7:30.

Signed it all off and lined thru the further conditions (caboose and murphy bed) and called to tell the real estate office I would drop it off personally in the AM about 9:30. Got an e mail back the offer was only good till 5:30 this evening. So I faxed back the signed copies. Be interesting seeing if the bank can OK a short sale in less than 6 hours

Well this morning I propped up the phone lines with 14 foot of taped and scabbed up pvc and readied the caboose for it's first trip. After borrowing the neighbors station jack to get the wheels out of the mud. (It has been almost 2 years since the start of the build , YEP TWO YEARS ) !

I hooked up that little anemic 6 cylinder Dodge PU to it and off we went. I wanted it out of harms way in case someone wanted to try and claim it as part of the house again. It towed very well. We didn't go far just over to a friends home to store it in his yard for a couple of weeks while I get the rubber roof trimmed out. Then it will go over to the property in Frankfort to start the zoning war. I was only 2 1/2 hours late for work

That looks like a consession trailer and not nearly as thought provoking as yours. Your's has all the comforts of home just on a smaller scale. It's been fun watching and helping it's progress and I'm anxious to see it once you've got it all set up.

A saw this many many years ago, long before my thoughts turned to tiny houses. It still rings true. You can take it from a guy that has taken almost a year to move all of his possessions.

I remember when you first rented the building, you thought you would have plenty of room to let someone rent a corner of it from you....remember that??? Looking at the pics you've posted, I can't seem to find an empty corner anywhere!!!!! LOL Yes you certainly do have plenty of "stuff". Glad to hear you and the "kids" got your heat connected before it got so cold.

Well the yearly package for homeowners insurance on the caboose is $275.00.

I am putting on the rubber roof retaining trim in the next 10 days weather permitting and down the road it goes.

Well I spent saturday night sleeping in the caboose at my buddy Jimmy's house. I wanted to get an early start on the trim on Sunday morning.

I installed some corner molding and removed the temporary tack strips and installed the dental molding to hold down the rubber roof. About 5 hours of up and down a ladder and I was beat and still not quite half way done.

However I did learn something that I will pass on.

Trim screws................yes trim screws.

These ultra tiny headed screws are great for installing delicate trim without splitting. They drive with an ultra tiny square headed driver, There are a couple differences between these and regular construction screws. The tiny headed ones will not draw up the layers well. The head would just rather bury it's self rather than draw together. For this reason some type of clamping is very desirable.

These were in one of the 5 - 6 boxes and pails of goodies I got off of freecycle. I had no prior experience with them as I usually used my pneumatic finish nailer of brad gun. I do reall like these as even the fragile dental molding resisted splitting while I installed it. And it is so easy to set the depth of recess to be able to fill or putty over the hole.

From my one experience with them:
I'd just add to watch the setting you have your drill on with these.
The head has a tendency to round out easily if the screw stops and
the drill bit doesn't - much worse than even regular Phillips head
screws if you're not paying attention. Otherwise they're not bad to
use if they fit your purpose.
I can't recall specifically, but I think some of them may have a self-
drilling thread which helps avoid the splitting.
If you have a house - you have a hobby.
