Any great camping exits I95

Postby Lynn Coleman » Sat May 03, 2014 4:46 pm

Hi all,

We'll be traveling I-95 and anticipating getting 12 hours of traveling in the first day. Which should put us north of Richmond, VA and south of Washington, DC. Does anyone know of some great camping places that are easy in and easy out with hook-ups?

Thanks,
Lynn

can't help you on the area but, when I look for campgrounds that people liked in an area I've found http://www.tripadvisor.com/HotelsList-V ... 49343.html to be a good source to use, mostly for the user reviews and ratings.
Camping doesn't show up on the site as a button, but does show up in search box.

There's a KOA in that area, between DC and Richmond. We don't use a lot of KOA's but have used a few for overnight or 2 night stays. We frequent one in Vermont that hosts two vintage camper rallies per year.

KOA Richmond is north of Richmond at exit 89. Get off the exit turn right then an immediate right again, follow about 1/4 mile and the KOA is on the left. You can see there entrance right off the side of the interstate just before you get off at exit 89.Larry

Lynn, get the book/mag called the 'Next exit'. When going on long distance trips, I won't leave home without it. It tells you what's at almost every Hi-way exit (campgrounds, gas stations, banks and stores)

Gage, we have that book, haven't used it in a couple years. Most info can be found on our GPS, but campgrounds and State Parks don't show up until we get fairly close. We carry the KOA book, plus Woodalls campground book that we got at AAA. Woodalls are regional books, not the entire US in one book. Another device we have but is kind of outdated is a Road Whiz.
