Teardrop rentals/loaners

Postby oregoncamper » Wed Apr 23, 2014 2:36 pm

I live in Portland, Oregon. I have this idea of planning a teardrop camping adventure in July to propose to my girlfriend at Mt. Rainier, WA. Her world would 'stop' if she got a chance to have a teardrop experience for a long weekend. Does anyone know of a place or person that rents/loans teardrops to a trustworthy couple looking for a very special weekend in my area? I am willing to drive a ways to get one and make this happen. I am so willing to compensate for anyone who wants to 'pay it forward' to loaning to a couple who can't afford one of our own right now.

Best wishes,
Ryan

GEEEZ! I hope you don't allow her on the internets...

I don't know who you could find to rent from. But two-bits says that if you went down the street to Teardrops NW, they'd know if anyone in OR/WA does. And who knows, since you're a local-yocal, and if'n you tell them your love-sick story, they might feel so sorry for you, look at their feet for a moment, and offer to rent a demo.

Teardrop NW - I-5 south exit 253 south edge of Salem. turn right at the stop, head west moving over into the left lanes going past the WM/lake & airport on the left, then turn into the left turn lane at the Jack in the Box/K-mart stoplite. Then going south a couple of blocks turning right at the stoplite. A few more blocks westbound then left onto 19th for another block or so then you will see Devcor on the left. Go all of the way to the end of Devcor looking to your right you will see them (they usually have a trailer or parked outside). They sometimes have signs out at 19th pointing the direction.

I met Bill and the crew at Teardrop NW last week; they are such a nice group of people and really love what they do! I got to see three trailers being built in their shop! Currently, they have sold all their floor models and can't guarantee they will have a floor model to rent in three months. I plan on staying in contact with Bill and the crew these next couple months. As for 'Little Guy' dealerships in my area renting, and I mean within a six hundred mile driving radius, no one rents. The nearest place to rent is Penngrove, Cal. or somewhere in Colorado at 628 miles away. While helping put my girlfriend through pre-med. school, taking two long days off of work to drive is near impossible financially. If anyone knows of a place or person in my area that will rent/loan that I have not discovered in my seven-month search, please let me know. :D I plan on going to a teardrop meetup in Stevenson, WA to talk with people too this next month.

I have references if needed, nine people that I can think of off the top of my head right now.

You might check with Joe and Leslie at Vacations in a Can. Real nice couple.
They are located one hour north of San Francisco if that's not too far for you to drive....

Whoops... looks like they might be the ones you mentioned at Penngrove???

You might try the Christianson Clan (two brothers, Jon & Sawyer, who build custom tears and everyone in their family owns a TD!) 541-357-8895 www.oregontrailer.net
Tell them the Teardrop Nanny referred you cuz she loves the idea of a teardrop proposal...and the Pay It Forward idea. Best of luck in your Love Connection

Thanks Dean,

I talked with Jon awhile back and he was very pleasant. The capability of renting is on their to-do list...like most people in my area.

I am still trying to find a teardrop that I can rent. If anyone hears of one in my area to rent, let me know.

Thanks,
Ryan
