Whitewater express

Postby Jim91303 » Tue May 06, 2014 8:30 pm

Hello all !
I been lurking around here for over a year now and fininaly starting my build.
A refresh of my intro ..... Name is Jim, from South west PA. I am in to hiking , camping and whitewater kayaking, hunting and fishing. My idea on this build has changed 100 times in a week so I am doing this is in afew stages.

Stage 1 : just a very simple camper 6x8x7 .... A/c unit and LED lighting
Stage 2 : upgrade to a full galley add onboard water and propane

This build will be slow with spurts of activity ;)
It is gonna be a foamy with wood panel inside and out and exterior will be fiber resien then painted.

Sofar I have the HF 1195# trailer assembled ( 4-6-14 )

Jim,

Sounds like you have a good start. Of course we need :pictures: to verify progress.

Take care,
Tom

lol
Yea been busy and got pics of the finished assembly.
Yes I replaced the wheel bearings and this kit has the greasable hubs too.
The couple is junk ! It sticks and locks up too much so that will be replaced in time
The camper will be removable so Ican use the trailer for other things aas well
No just need to figure out how to post pics from this tablet :NC

Well its been awhile !! Finally getting on the camper again. Life seems to always get in the way.

Started to assemble the floor. Changed my plans alittle. It is now a 6x10 not the 6x8 as planned. I been planning and drawling and never could settle on 1 design so..... All that got tossed and winging it ! lol
I have a general size and shape and as for the layout ... I'll do that once I get the sides up

Above pics are just the 4x8 base
I will post finished floor tomorrow once I get it glued and screwed.
It's a sandwich floor of 7/16 osb and 2" foam
So floor will be close to 2 1/2'' thick. Will be used in winter for steelhead fishing so its gotta withstand buffalo NY winters

Made a foam cutter today

Took an old 12v power supply and converted it over

It's 12v 4amp with a dimmer switch to control the power .
The "knife" is a piece of 1x3 about 8" long blade made of thick bailing wire .... Cuts fast and smooth

Weather been not ideal for the sealing of the floor bottom. See what today brings !
Need 68° and rising ... It has not climbed above 69/70 in 2 days due to a storm front ... Today might be bad also
