They asked for the "tour" of the trailer, after they saw it in the garage, next to the Chevelle (they got that tour 3 years ago). Once again, the man liked the utility aspects I had incorporated into it, whereas the woman commented that it was a coffin, and didn't think she could sleep in it (my wife still has doubts about that, too, although the two-windows & two-doors were entirely for her "approval", and to try to ameliorate some of her claustrophobic leanings). "Coffin" seems to be the most common descriptory observation from the women. I guess men feel more comfortable in a closed environment, hence the term "man-cave". Other comments: I have had some people ask (at gas stations, mostly) if it is a dog-kennel, a bomb shelter (yes, on wheels!-the sign on front fooled her),•111786
a cargo trailer (the windows should've said "not"), and lastly, a boon-docker (asked by a guy in camo). Not one has ever remotely ventured "Teardrop", nor "Tiny Travel Trailer".
My trailer is not a "traditional" Teardrop, by normal standards nor definition, but I like to camp in it, nevertheless. The main things: ease of set up/take down (if elaborate canopies, side tents, or side tables are not immediately needed-like setting up in a pouring rain or setting up late at night; tent camping leaves you no choice!), sleeping on a dry mattress in a semi-controlled atmosphere (limited insect and critter incursions!), still being exposed to nature most of the time (in direct contrast to the monster RV-never leave the unit-campers), and enjoying the company of like-minded folks. Common ground for TnTTT -ites of all persuasions.

I like the fact that it is easy to tow. Good mpg's means you will use it more often.
The outdoor kitchen is ready in a couple of minutes. Also can be setup as a mini bar for outdoor party's.

The kitchen has a hatch that is a rain cover and shade.

All most no setup or pack-up. Can park and sleep in minutes at a 24 hour parking lot when traveling.
No canvas for the mice to but holes in like a popup.
On mine
I like the change room(shower) bar I designed to pull out of the roof

The under frame (floor) storage.

Inside bar to hold clothes on hangers and hold shopping bags for easy storage. Can have a Didi's and change of clothes ready for a morning shower. No cabinet to build.
I removable bunk for my dog. (small kid?)

My propane radiant tube heater

Easy to tow, fun to have, easy to get away from people and hide, flexibility in how you want to set up camp, speed of setting up camp and a good nights sleep.
I prefer the tear style of mine but there are many homebuilts out there that I consider pieces of art that I would love to own.

Slow here is the design thread. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=58648&p=1061891&hilit=radiant+tube#p1061891
It is petty simple. the parts A regulator off a tabletop grill , a black pipe burner(with a air vent drilled through it ), 2 stainless dog dishes(to go through the wall), a shiny reflector, a piece on conduit, a conduit elbow and a two conduit unions. The hot gas from the propane burner flows through the conduit and out the elbow on the other side. The reflector radiates the heat down.
To regular the temperature I open a window. I tester it on a -10 degree day and it work great. The burner and elbow (chimney) comes off when on the road. A don't have a pic of the reflector

This it a prototype and not tested in all conditions. So use with caution!

For me, it's not so much about the shape, but how light-weight I can build it. The woody tops out just under 500 lbs, the Stacker is only 245 lbs, the 3x3 levitator was 85 lbs, the Shrunk-Bunk came in at just under 300 lbs and I think my latet tear, which is an answer to aerodynamics, tips the scales at 350 lbs. Hey, I tow with a 4 banger, it's kind of like having 2 adults in the back seat.

For us, it's the ease of use and functionality of the design. The teardrop shape and light weight makes it very easy tow with the streamlined aerodynamics. We start the season by packing all the camping clothes, gear and supplies into the trailer so we're ready to go at a moments notice. Once at a campground you set up in a few minutes and bang, you're enjoying the outdoors. As many have said, it's easy to both set up and break camp.

Perhaps the most wonderful aspect of teardrop trailers are the folks you meet; kind, gregarious and practical people. Especially other teardroppers, they're the best folks on the planet.

Best Wishes,

Dave
